After going on the xbox.com forums, I can all but guarentee that it isn't allowed. Whether or not your going to be forced to change it depends on two things 1) Someone files a complaint or 2)A member of the Policy Enforcement Team (PET) happens to catch it.Aft3rBurn3r
Just about any name will be banned if enough people complain about it.
On a side note, theres no such thing as an atheist. Think about it.

Actually this is untrue. All complaints have to be reviewed by a member of thE PET team. No matter how many complaints you get, If your g-tag is wiithin the rules of the Terms of Conduct then you will not be forced to change it.Any g-tag involving anything with religion will run the risk of getting a forced change. i'm pretty sure that the worse that will happen is a 24 hr service ban and a forced name change. I highly recommend you read these forums as it will answer most your questions http://forums.xbox.com/1386/ShowForum.aspx Plus it makes for an interesting read. What about A TEAM AGNOSTIC?

There is no way you could go a whole year on XBOX Live with the word "Atheist" in your GT, I know you mean no harm but tons of relegious people will be offended, I would probably be offended as well.
Afriend of mine has the gamertag "TerminateChrist" (yes, great GT, I know!) and no trouble has ever come to him. I say go for it, what's the worst that could happen? Some fool whines about it because you share a different belief than they do and they make you change it?

Being that there's absolutely NOTHING offensive about the term 'atheist', ideally, there shouldn't be a problem.
Its like reporting people who have 'LakersFan' in their gamertag because you're a Chicago Bulls fan.
Of course, I shouldn't underestimate how ridiculously oversensitive religious people can be.....
I'd do it, man. If they try and say you cant do it, you should fight for it, too. Religious freedom in its most literal sense and all, ya know?

That is kinda ridiculous and offensive. I'm atheist and all, but 'TerminateChrist' is obviously just made to antagonize Christians. Thats not right.

+1, just going a little bit too far...The following isn't directed at any one person(s), but should instead be taken as a general George Carlin-esque rant:
Come on, people! I'm so sorry that those 2 words put together form something that you don't like. But when that happens you're supposed to just put on your big girl pants and realize that not everything in this world is going to be to your liking and as long as you're able to profess your support of a certain set of beliefs, there will be other people out there that will profess support for a different set of beliefs.
Clearly LIVE isn't the place to espouse one's religious views but there's no point in complaining about it when it's not hurting anyone, I mean are those 2 words really going to ruin your gaming experience more than, say, a whiny 10-year old singing into a mic? I think not.
EDIT: Fixed some spelling issues.

Having'TerminateChrist' as a gamertag is not someone expressing their beliefs, though. Its something thats obviously just meant to offend others, which is why it shouldn't be allowed.
By all means, use that name in a Heavy Metal forum or something(I'm sure its just a 'metal' name, right?), but not on XboxLive, where there's all kinds of people playing online.
To be honest, while I really like some of the music in death metal, the lyrical topics tend to be seriously ridiculous and over-the-top. Seems they're trying to be 'in your face' and shock people with such offensive stuff, but it all just comes off as a bit cheesy in the end.
I guess we'll just have to agree to disagree on the 'deliberately offensive' issue. Oh well.
I don't think the name is a Metal reference, but I could be wrong. And yes, some Metal, like any music, has lyrics that are cheesy and over-the-top. Although I will admit that Metal lyrics do have a higher propensity for this considering the way the music is played, the subject matter covered and the themes present.

Ok. What if I get offended that someone has 420 in their GT? I think it encourages drug use and bad grades and will ultimately be the downfall of society, but you don't see me filing complaints like a snot nosed kid. Life's tough, get a helmet.

You would be offended because his views/opinions are different then yours or someone else's ?

You obviously missed my point. My criticism wasn't that people would get offended, its that this person is going around *trying* to offend people, which I think is wrong. Somebody putting 420 in their name isn't out to purposefully offend anyone.
On a side note: "will ultimately be the downfall of society"...................

I changed my mind actually, I wouldn't really be offended because atheist isn't really a derogatory term, its a belief, so people can use it all they want.[QUOTE="Large_Soda"]

People can be and will be offended by anything and will state that the person was trying to offend them from the start. Working in a school district can make the numbers 420 infuriating when its scratched and carved thought the property only to damage and insult the grounds.
