Hello Fellow Canadians,

It looks like the video store has finally come to Canada monents ago. So far I see 31 videos up for download and I just through I would let who ever didn't know yet that it is there for them to check it out and let us know what you think!

Personally I hope the store adds a lot more videos before then new years as 31 is rather weak. But still very cool to finally have!

The standard def costs 300 points and the HD costs 440 points, so yes there is an HD option (720p)

Same in the UK :)

Films like 300, Matrix trilogy, harry potter, oceans eleven, demolition man, list goes on.

Fairly cheap too, 240 for SD, 340 for HD.

:)

Blockbuster blows! I heard they are shutting down all Blockbusters in a couple of years cause of how they aren't making a profit anymore cause of Netflix and Gamefly. I don't get why Blockbuster wasn't shut down sooner though.

These were never available in Canada due to licensing issues.

Anyway, I'm really happy to see this service up. I just checked it tonight after finishing watching a movie :) I knew it was coming up soon. Now I don't have to go searching for HD movies, and I already see some good classics in that last. Neverending Story!!!!

I'm sure the library will only grow over time.

What do you guys think of the prices? New releases are440M$ credits (for 480p) whichis equal to $6.77 and the the HD new releases are 580M$ credits thats equal to $8.92. That seams like a lot. I mean to rent from a vid store is a little cheaper. I like the idea of being able to stay at home and watch movies instead of going out and renting them. I just wanna know how everyone feels about the prices.

Well crap. This is what I was afraid of. I've been living in Ireland for over 2 years now, but I still cannot access any of the new marketplace stuff. I just started my console now, and couldnt find anything. The only reason I can think of is that my Gamertag was created in Sweden... *sigh* this sucks.... :(

I didn't know the prices worked out like that... kinda sucks. They should be a good bit cheaper than a rental since it's not a physical commodity. I guess I'll just stick to the old movies for 300 points.

Ya i work out the prices like this:
This is all canadian funds dont forget.

500M$ points/ $7.75 = 65M$ points(rounded) per each canadian dollar.

(I know its easy...just wanted to show ppl.)

If you really think about it sure paying a $1 more to stay at home and rent rather then walking to your nearest rental store could seem cool. But you would think it would be cheaper online for digital contentthen an actual hard copy being rented, since really they just need one copy of a film and have it dowloaded a bunch of times.

I wonder if M$ will adjust any of their XBox Live pricing to reflect the strength of the Canadian dollar. See, if they made 100 points equal 1$ I think that would be a great price for movies. I also think that M$ would see Live Arcade sales SKYROCKET... Just a thought.

MS points are universal (meaning something that is 800mS points in the US is 800MS points in Canada), it's the stores that have to change the prices, and as far as I have seen, they ARE changing the prices... http://www.bestbuy.ca/catalog/proddetail.asp?logon=&langid=EN&sku_id=0926INGFS10083945&catid=23562

Yeah the point value is the same but the dollar value is not. In the U.S. you can get a 1600 points card for $19 and in Canada you get 1400 points for the same price.

580 points in the U.S. is $7.25 and in Canada it is $9.27 and that is BS and furthermore it costs 480 points in the U.S. so that means it's $6 to rent for Americans and $7.68 for Canadians. So even if the dollar amount was at par for points the U.S. is still getting it for 100 points less.

Not to mention the lack of TV shows and shoddy 31 movie selection, so all in all this is a slap in the face.

I can rent new releases with my digital Cable provider for $5 a pop, so this is pretty much useless to me.

Exactly and now the Blockbuster where I live has started to rent HD DVD and Blu Ray movies so I am loving it.
