Hi guys, i need your help.

Today i bought 360 Elite, set it up, made an account and so on and succesfully connected to Live (even downloaded some demos already). Then i turned the console off for few minutes and when i turned it on again, it won't connect to live anymore. When i do that test thing, it say that my console has invalid IP adress. How come, it worked before i turned it off!?!?!?

Anyways, it's connected to my PC through LAN card and everthing is set up correctly. Any ideas?

In my experience... 99% of connection failures come from the router... it wont provide an IP address. Pull the power cable out from the back of the router for 20-30 seconds and plug it back in, then power up your 360 and it should work. It doesn't happen to me often but when it does, thats what I do and it has worked every time.

You must have a modem connected to your PC somewhere though right? Try the same thing on the modem. If that doesn't work. then I dont know... since it worked before, it doesn't make sense.

I don't have a modem... There's this LAN cable coming directly from the wall and i just connect it to my PC. It's hard to describe when you don't see it in person.

I managed to connect on Live again, i turned off my PC and 360, then turned PC on, turned 360 on and it worked. But then i turned 360 off and can't connect to live again... Is the 360 somehow effed up? BTW, i can see in systray that it is connected to my PC, but it just won't connect to Live saying my IP test failed...

I know you don't have a modem, nor a router, but a router might be your best route. They are cheaper now then what they used to be, connect your wall cable to the wlan slot, and run one cable to your 360, and one to your pc. That way it will probably be less complicated than piggy backing off of your pc.

yeah, I agree ^. Your computer is robbing the 360 of recognizing the IP. A router should fix this problem. A friend had the same situation, bought a router, and hasn't had a problem since.

I use a wireless router at my house and it creates a wireless network. Everything with wireless connectivity in my house can then be linked to the router and get internet and so on.

It works great and I recommend you do this. One downside is that sometimes the router acts up or is slow or whatever. I usually tend to fix this by turning the router off, reconnecting the cables on it, etc. Doesn't happen too often though. It also provides pretty decent connectivity to the 360. I've never had any lag problems playing online.

Is the wireless device for the 360 still $100? Not sure if other wireless receivers will work with 360.

This happens to me so much I never even bought Xbox LIVE Gold. Instead, I bought a PS3, which has really reliable free online. Still with the likes of Left 4 Dead and Gears of War 2 coming out, I've decided I'm going to bite the bullet and buy a wireless adapter for the Xbox 360.

so all your computer share the same connection? the problem is most likely with the computer you have it hooked up too. Look at the computer you hook your 360 up to and look at the ip settings in network management.

Also you can use your computer to act as a wireless network adapter for the 360.
