I'm having a bit of trouble getting connected to xbox live.

The wireless adaptor i'm using has two antennas (not sure if that's relevant) and i've managed to connect to my wireless.

The adaptor is plugged into one of the usb ports (at the front , near the on button) . However on the xbox help site it says to clip it onto the back with the extension cable that comes with the kinect but i don't have one. Does the location of the wireless adaptor on the xboxmatter ?

Any help or advice would be great

Don't think it matters, no. But I wouldn't put it in the front. It does clip into the back, but doesn't need anything to do with Kinect to do so...Don't even know what the hell you're talking about when it comes to that...

The fact that you described your adapter as the one that "has two antennas" is scary...Shows how little you know about home networking...That's the Wireless N Adapter...So if it's not working, I'm willing to bet it's simply because you don't have a wireless N router/modem.

I'm not sure, but I found this on Amazon's product description:

  • Works with existing 802.11g and 802.11b wireless routers and access points (backwards-compatible)

So it doesn't look like that is the problem.

Weird...There's also MTU and issues like that. That could be the problem, since he is able to connect to his network. Conflicting IPs...etc. The most difficult thing about asking for help with stuff like this is, you need to understand your home network well. Xbox Live quality and connection has a lot to do with home networking. So if you start with a bad network, your Live isn't going to be much better...

I was dealing with a mad problem of not being able to connect to Xbox Live espeacially when I bought my new 360 250g S console but I had done everything to fix what I thought may be the problem but it turned out that I just needed to move my router closer to my 360 and I've had full conection ever since and its been working great, you could always try moving your router closer see if it works for you. Always check though to see if you have the right IP adress typed in, go to configure network in your network settings on your 360, it's supposed to start with 192, if it starts with 162 then your 360 is'nt picking up your router correctly. To make sure everything is typed in right use your computer thats connected to the network from your router, go to your command prompt and type in "ipconfig" (withought the quotes) everything about your computer will come up. But right at top you'll see your IPV4 address(IP address), gateway address, subnet address make sure that information is the same as on your 360. BUT! when you type in the Ipv4 address(IP address)make sure it matches except for the last three numbers (for example the three numbers at the end could be .101 instead of typing in .101 type in .102). Try and see if that works, it really should, if not then message me and I'll be able to walk ya through it a little easier then through a forum post.
