I have tried everything and my internet connection is just fine as usual. I have tried downloading the update and I keep getting an error telling me I can't update. Is there any way to fix this?

If you are downloading something on another device that shares a connection with your Xbox, pause the download. I was downloading something big on my PC and as soon as I paused the D/L the update finished downloading.

@l0ve: still not working for me. It keeps prompting the update and then when I hit "Yes, update now" it takes me to a black screen that says "Cant download the update. To test your connection, open System Settings and slect Netwowrk Settings, Test Xbox Live Connection." I dont know what the problem is.
Which update, the system update or game updates? I had the same problem with game updates, to solve this, go onto your memory, go on the hard drive and press Y. The press Clear Cache, this deletes all updates from now on...
My Xbox starts to download and then stops giving me some weird error as follows:

same here, it keeps taking me to the white screen with the progress bar and then the same message..... screw this Im going to play, this stupid update already kept me here trying for 45 minutesRestared mine 7 or 8 times now and still not updating...

Yeah I had the same problem, even tried to turn off and turn on my Slim and it would start to download and come up with the error. I finally made sure everything else on my router (PC) was turned off and it went through on the first try. It tried the same process on my 60GB and it worked on the first try also.
If your having a problem make sure the Xbox is the only thing on the internet when you are trying to download the update. It should work then...good luck.
i figured out a solution, sign and try to dl it, if it doesnt work, turn off auto sign in, then turn off the xbox. then turn it on, and manually sign in then when the update popup comes select to download it and wah laa it should start downloading.
If you're experiencing Xbox LIVE service issues, it's because the old build (2.0.0XX) is conflicting with most entries in the service database. Seriously... all you need to do is restart. I didn't disable anything, just restarted and everything worked just fine.
I've restarted multiple times, the first half of the update went through and i got the new dashboard, but then it says update again, and then it doesn't work!!
