Can't Find a Friend in Gears

I play Gears ranked matches with friends once in a while, so that we can play together and still get achievements.  One friend, however, can never find our game.   Even if we make it really specific, it doesn't show up on his search list.  ...and when he hosts, I can never find his games.

 We have both preferred each other -- any idea why nobody can seem to link up with him?

Are you all in the same Zone?

It's also possible there are NAT issues with his router.

They will only ever show 10 games at a time, so even if you make it specific, if there is more then 10 games the same, it might not show up.

Sort of annoying, but they try there hardest to discourage playing with friends in ranked matches, ebcuase there was too much cheating. So just keep refreshing, or making new games til lyou find it, or you can just gve up and go to player matches. 

We're in the same zone.  I checked that.  Also, sometimes we'll try really specific things, like Assasination to 2 or something, and it still won't show up, with less than ten games shown.

 Regarding NAT setting on our routers, can those be changed?  And how do those effect which games we can join?

 I don't have problems with inviting to player matches or anything like that, though...

 This sometimes happens with people i am trying to play with but you can't really complain when you aren't meant to find each other anyway. I guess the easy answer is just to play player matches with friends and play ranked on your own or any friends that can actually get in. I know you already know that but i guess that is the only thing you can do to play with them.

Zeppelin, you may be on to something.

 I had trouble finding one of my friends at first, when I first got my 360.  After I logged a lot of multiplayer hours, finding him was no problem.

Now, with my other friend who I can't find, he's relatively new to the game, and my gamerscore and kill totals are much higher than his.  That may have something to do with it.
