Cant join games............

How come when ever I try to join one of my friends games in halo 2it doesnt let me and always says that it cant let me join because of network problems. I can join matchmaking just fine but I cant join public games and if i can it takes me about 5 minutes just to load the map. All my other xbox live games I have work fine so I know its not my conection. Can anyone tell me how to fix this and this started to happen when i got my 360 last year.

It's the maps. The 360 doesn't allow people to download Halo 2 maps with the Marketplace, and so a 360 owner is unable to download the maps. I had the same problem, and I still haven't played my friends on Halo since I got it because of this flaw.

Also, don't bump any of your other topics like this one. It's not good in the Gamespot rules...

and it has nothing to do with the maps, he's having network problems.

Try setting the IP to a static one. I was having somewhat similar problems in that I couldn't connect to my little brother, but setting the IP to static worked.

To set your static IP:

1) Go to the network settings under the system blade. Write down all the numbers there.

2) Go into each group, set it to manual, and enter the numbers your wrote down. Be sure to do it for both groups.

It worked on mine, so hopefully it'll work on yours. If its not that, try updating your router's firmware.

Is your NAT open? Go to the system part of the dashboard, click on network settings, then click test xbox live connection. If it's anything but open that might be the problem. I had problems joining matches on a few games, and when I opened it up it worked. Dunno if that really is the problem tho.
