I was never expecting it anyway. Unless they were to integrate HD DVD games into the platform, which would be a bad idea at this point, they are better off continuing to use the external drive. This is simply a rumor from people who want so desperately to see this happen that others start believing it too.
What I was expecting from CES is some footage of Gears of War 2. With Epic and MS exhibits being big and right next to each other, this would make sense.
Blu-Ray is getting a bigger and bigger foothold everyday. Most of the major studios have gone Blu-Ray exclusive. At this stage in the format war it looks like the Blu-Ray is going to win. Its kind of a shame best thing about HD-DVD was the upscaling of regular DVDs so you didn't have to rebuy your collection, and I have never heard anyone say Blu-Ray does the same thing or not.
I'm 100% glad that there is no such xbox coming... would be just a dumb move by MS. Blu-ray FTW! If you can't beat 'em.... join 'em. That's why I have both PS3 and 360... I like them both.

I don't care about the HD-DVD or Blu0 ray thing anyways. I was sort of hoping for maybe the ability to buy movies. That would be good. To me, the future is downloading media! If music can do it, so can videos!!
guys I truly believe that a new sku will happen this year, now wheter its really the ultimate, some other package that has different specs from the rumored ultimate specs,a new redesign, oran upgrade/change to the currentsku's,we willhave to wait and see. I honestly was not expecting them to announce it last night, they always go software heavy at CES, plus why would they announce a new sku at a keynote like that? They announced the elite on a normal day through a press release. I wouldnt be surprised if they announced it at GDC, E3 or another tradeshow in between the two, or even on a normal day. Plus the rumors of the ultimate never really said they would announce it at CES, that was just speculation started by people who started reading the rumor on the ultimate and then realized that CES was coming up. I would honestly expect them to announce it on a normal weekendthrough a press release, because its just a new sku.

This will most likely happen at GDC, Microsoft and Epic have two of the biggest spaces and they are right beside each other.

There was no way they could have released an HDDVD drive/wifi based unit, first off they'd lose what little legroom theyve got with 360 owners already, secondly it would raise the price far above the PS3. PS3 already has price/feature advantage and MS isnt going to make that worse. 3rd, the whole BD thing, and now targets dropped out of HDDVD as well so its not looling good for even finding drives anymore.

I think there will deffinitly be an upgrade in the current sku's, including the new 65nm artietect, bigger harddrive, and built in wifi for the elite, they most likely wont make a completly new sku but they will at least upgrade them. I think GDC will be the place for an announcment such as this, or even E3. And I would not be surprised if they just did it on some day, as they have done in the past with the elite.
I liked the rumored idea that MS was going to license out the 360 so companies like Toshiba could create an all in one home entertainment device. Like a DVR, HD-DVD player with 360 capabilities. That would have been awesome.
