I didn't mind the ending to Fable 2. The game is all based around crappy choices you have to make throughout the story. It seemed like the devs didn't want you to forget that.
I still had lots of fun with the game even after I finished it.
Totally agree with you there. the ending was so melodromatic it wasn't even funny. Leads me to believe that most of the development time was intended for the other parts of the game, marriage, family, dog tricks, social tricks, buying houses, economic increase. you know. But yes, the main story was extremely short. I was shocked at the ending, TBH it only took me 10-15hrs to beat max. Don't know my game time played atm. I do know I spend a lot of time elsewhere, not sure why. and the weapon that I bought within the start of the game pretty much lasted me till the end. Will is so cheap I kinda wish I couldn't freeze time to cast a AoE spell that kills all enemies...
oh well. it was a fun game. terrible ending, but fun nonetheless.
I have played through it once so far and am currently working on a second playthrough.
I didn't set my expectations of Fable 2 as high as others. I know that there is no perfect game that exists. Whether it's a storyline, controls, replay value, or what not, every game is flawed in some way; some more than others. Fable 2 is no different. The storyline in Fable 2 isn't very memorable, but if you bought Fable 2 and were expecting a great storyline, then of course you would be disappointed. I viewed Fable 2 nothing more than it was a game where you shaped the world and shaped your character.
There's some disappointments in Fable 2 like: XBL co-op, lack of outfits and styles, lack of challenge (you get stronger, but the enemies didn't really scale well), and of course the end boss. I know there are still areas to improve upon in this series. However, overall, I think Fable 2 had more positives than negatives. It's just a nice fun game to play. The whole is greater than the sum of its parts. I do hope that the next installment improves upon this game.
You're in for a massive disappointment with Fallout 3s ending. Luckily for me, i can enjoy a game no matter what the ending is like. I've gotten used to bad endings in movies and games over the last few years and i pay more attention in the ride leading to the end, rather than the end itself.
