Changing my Gamertag...Question

So, I am tired of my gamertag and am thinking about changing it. I have a lot of people on my friends' list. Will they know about the change via XBL or do I have to notify them of the switch myself? Also, will my friends list stay in tact?

Microsoft didn't sleep on this aspect of XBL. When u change out you gamertag name it updates on your friends list, as well as personal achievement cards. 800 ms points spent on personal name changes is a very thorough process, believe me I've done it.
