CoD 4 or Halo online?

I will be the first to admit I was late to the game when it came to CoD 4. This is my first online experience and I'm hooked. I was wrong about online gaming, I stink allright? Let's move on. Now that I have seen the light, which one is better? I don't have Halo 3, but I have played and beaten the first two on single player modes. Now I am wondering about the online play of Halo 3.

Which do you recommend as the better online game?

Yeah, there are a few huge maps in Halo 3, like sand trap, bigger than any map in COD. But I personally think COD4 is better than Halo online because of the whole customisation thing. Also, the community is better on COD, not as many ratty spoilt pre-adolecent Americans.

I personally think neither because I like to think that I'm not a drone and don't feel like I should follow everyones way of thinking through peer pressure. So I'll say timeshift because I kicked ass.

Ok. Well liking a game that others like doesn't make you a drone, if anything I guess it makes you like minded. I don't know. I appreciate you input, but the question was about CoD4 and Halo.

Halo 3 because it has an option to search for local players unlike cod4, which just dumps me on american hosted matches all the time... lame.DopeyDavoid

Although that does sound cool to find local matches, what makes the American matches lame? Just curious. Yes, I am an American. An adult though, not one of the screaming kids.

American matches are laggy for the rest of the world and when the game tries to select the best host for the game it doesn't take into account the latency(ping, lag) to the rest of the players so we end up getting laggy a** American games all the time and can't do anything about it because the games server will always choose the host closest to them which will be an american thus crappy games for the rest of the world.

My opinion is COD4 is way better online than Halo 3 - the ranking system is awesome and has you hooked once you start leveling up. Also, it seems rdumb that in Halo 3, you can empty a whole clip into a enemy and at times he lives, has time to turn and take you out while you're reloading.

COD seems so much more realistic with the weapon physics - nice to be able to take out an enemy who is hiding in a corner of a room by shooting thru the wall from the other side.

Only thing I don't care for in COD 4, and it's minor in my book - no vehicles to run around in, but that is off set with the ability to call in air strikes and ehlicoter support (If I live long enough to get 5 or 7 kill streak)

I played the crap out of CoD4 on release for a few months, got 55... then I got bored. Prestige mode doesn't really do much for me.

It's beyond fun don't get me wrong.

The bottom line is they are both way different games, if you want huge battles with vehicles, want to play online when buddies come over, or just like a futuristic feel to your games give Halo a shot.

CoD is super fast, addicting, smaller-team based semi-realism.

Hard to judge - oh and to that Timeshift guy - LOL.

Please don't buy Timeshift, rent it.

My thoughts exactly.

Many issues to touch on.

First off, I play in the US. I understand the lag issues with playing people overseas. It is a mutual issue. You get lag, I get lag. It doesn't matter. It affects everyone. I do wish that Halo had connection settings for local or global.

Secondly, I know that racism is a touchy subject. I hear from people from all over the world. I do find that Australians and "Euros" are probably the worse offenders. Whether they believe/know what they are saying when they drop the "N" bomb or are trying to fit in, it gets old quick.

Thirdly, the quick mute option is amazing :)

The only problemI have with Halo 3 is that it seems to take much longer to find a match than COD4. Okay, when I say much longer, I'm talking about the difference between twenty seconds (COD4) and maybe a minute or two (Halo 3). Obviously, it's not a deal-breaking difference, but something I noticed.

That said, it's still very fun, and definitely worth playing if you have extra cash to burn on a game.

POST SCRIPT: In my experience, there are far more pre-adolescents on Halo than COD4. And that's not entirely a bad thing. There's a couple kids on there that I've run into that were really cool and just wanted to play and have fun. In my opinion, the adolescent guys who are experiencing all new levels of testosterone are the ones that seem to flip out more often.

Halo was fun when it first came out but I mean it wasn't spectacular, and CoD4 is so much better imho. The interactivity of CoD4 is so compelling, with the challenges and unlocking weapons and real ranking names and whatnot. I think CoD4 completely destroys Halo3 online!

Play Halo 3 until you get sick of it and then play COD 4. The class customization is great, just watch out for campers.

Exactly. And you might prefer one over the other, but you'll enjoy both of them!

Halo 3 has vehicles, power ups, dual wielding, melee weapons, removable turrets, sticky grenades, character customization

Call of Duty 4 is more realistic, bullets penetrate walls, has a nice aiming feature, weapon customization and perks

after playing the crap out of both of them i still think halo is alot more fun, but again they're both good games i would pick them both up

cod 4 online is good when you are in the mood but sometimes it does not give you the squad feel and when that happens I go to Halo 3 online . So what I am saying is it depends on the mood you are in and what you feel like dealing with.marvingamebeast

there two different games halo 3 more tactical but i wouldn't call it a tactical shooter . in terms of just pure online quality halo3 offers more online and does online better. the gameplay is different though so you may prefer cod4 over halo3 but in terms of just how they handle online cod4 has some major bugs and problems halo3 is much more refined.

also any game that doesn't involve grenade spamming is always welcomed in my book. personally im not a fan of either i prefer rainbow six mostly because i prefer tactical shooters, so it really boils down to what you like

if i were you i would just rent both games for a week and play them online to see which one you like better....

I played both halo 1 and 2 and after playing 2 so much i thought i would love halo 3 but it ended up sucking compared to 2 (the only thing better was graphics) and the vehicles really don't make it worth having over COD4

So for my personal liking i would say COD4 because of the customizations, unlockable weapons and attachments and perks, and last the *gameplay* is a lot better because it takes more strategy

Couple. There's a 2-man ATV type vehicle, quick - not that great.

And theres a Brute motorcycle thing that I always get oodles of kills on.

I like Halo 3 a lot more. In fact I just traded my copy of CoD4 for Lost Odyssey on friday because I was never playing it.

COD4 is a camp fest. People even bring tents.
