Well first off Black Ops is a much better experience than MW3 at least with the Multiplayer.

I'm currently at about a 2.4 KDR with a 1.5 W/L ratio. Some things I do that help me be successful is just a couple things. Always play toward the the edges of the maps, anytime you can limit the different sides you can be shot from the better! Also, don't run as much. I find the more I run the worse I do. Simply walking and staying aware while getting from point A to B will actually be more beneficial than simply sprinting around (be mindful I do sprint quite a bit, but in short bursts). Those really helped me...

don't always sprint

try stay to the outside of the map loooking in on the more open maps,

learn the hot spots of maps where people always getting killed and coming

USE flash nades around corners

idk not that great at cod but hey i stay up there and have my days.

The easiest way to get better is to try to play with people better than you. You'll start picking up on their habits and the way they play. Playing with a group of 4-6 people who are good also gives you an advantage cause you'll win more. Winning more=better stats in general. Playing with better people also means less kill streaks for the enemy team, less spawn camping and flanking from the enemy team, and you'll get more opportunities. Call of duty is all about positioning and being patient like the person above me said. It's not a game where you do a lot of head to head battles, and run and gunning is becoming less and less effective every new CoD. There are some gametypes where you have to run in gun like Headquarters, but K/D isn't relevant for most objective gametypes unless you have a negative K/D and give up a lot of kills without getting them, which in turn, gives the opposing team more kill streaks, which is always bad. Most of your kills will come from knowledge of spawning, flanking, shooting people in the back, and just having better positioning. To kill someone head to head is really a toss up because of how many bullets it takes to kill a person and connection, so don't count on running and gunning. It's not ideal especially if you aren't host or have a bad connection.

CoD is more "noob friendly" than ever, sad to say. It's harder to tell the good player from the bad players.

I read somewhere that they tried to design the maps for faster, flowing gameplay. It makes it harder to learn the maps. There are alot less "safe" areas as danger can come from all angles this time.

I learned to be good at cod by playing search and destroy, sure you will get like 0-2 kills the first 10 matches but after you did a couple of matches you will become better (like your reflexion will increase). Try to listen to footsteps, look were your teammates died (by looking at the skull on your screen), and concentrate :).

I've never concentrated on footsteps or any telling noises. Just stay visually concentrated on the screen and be aware of your surroundings. Like the previous poster said be aware of the skulls on the screen because sometimes those will lead you right to an easy kill or two.

And again Black Ops > MW3 IMHO

I snipe perfectly fine in black ops, but I haven't found any decent spots in MW3 yet.

pretty much.

being good at COD isn't something that's worth worrying about. it revolves around things that can get you more kills than guns ever could.

1st: learn how to aim, sparring with a couple of friends on a small map helps, but I doubt that's something a new player would get much benefit from. But just try to get comfortable with the sticks.

2: Practice. CoD is about practice and adapting. Learn how other ponies play, and find a way to beat it.

3. Be aware. Minimap is crucial, so is sound. What you see directly is only half of what COD is about. In a game where the pony who shoots first wins...the pony who see's first will mostly likely shoot first etc.

4. Play with good players. I can't stress this enough. Even if you're losing, or coming bottom of the team, the things you can learn from good players will mould the player that you can grow to be.

5. Play all the time. If you go even a week without playing, you will lose touch. Sure, the basics will stay with you. But the game and how it is played changes, it's worth keeping yourself in the loop. Experience is everything when it comes to CoD. Skill comes from experience.

Don't run all over the map. Find an effective gun and learn to use it. Don't worry about all the people calling you a "camper" and "n00b" and sending you hate messages about using "overpowered" perks and guns.

I guess what I'm saying is play smart and effectively, and don't worry about who thinks what is "n00b" or "cheap" because it's just a game.

ill tell you right now, cod takes getting used to, the multiplayer isnt as 'run-n-gun' as people think it is, if you get in a good lobby then use teamwork, let people know where an enemy is if you see one, tey'll return the favor..secondly, use some guns that people complain about...they're usually the best, stay in one spot, get a few kills then move to a new spot, (camp but dont sit around) and last but not least, drop shots, most effective with SMGs drop shots give a huge advantage BUT if an enemy is shooting at your torso then they usually get a headshot when you crouch

Isn't it possible they just evened out the game a bit? A lot of the noob strategies from MW2 are gone or non-existent.

Try using perks that will prevent you from being seen on radar and by air support. This should help reduce the amount of deaths. Perk 1: Blind Eye Perk 2: Assassin Perk 3: I recommend using Sitrep or stalker pro) to help prevent from getting killed by I.M.S., Claymores or Bouncing bettys) And try putting a silencer on your guns, so that the enemy won't see you on radar, even when you fire. I recommend that you try using the "Type95" assault rifle. It's only a 3-burst fire, so you're gun won't go out of control when you hold down the trigger, and it's very powerful. Another tip, that has helped me, is (if an enemy is far off-screen away from your gun's sights) don't try to move the cursor over the enemy while aiming down the sights...instead, let go of the left trigger, and then hold it down again. The aim-assist will usually "snap" your sights toward the nearby enemy, making it slightly easier to fire a bullet at him (and making him flinch) Use flash and stun grenades before entering a room or area (where you think enemies are in) I hope this helps
