my xbox has been crashing alot latley showing two flashing red lights (i looked it up it means its getting too hot, basically a warning befor the rrod) since my xbox is in an open space off the ground the only problem i can think of is dust, so what i am asking is is it safe to spray compressed air into the vents of the xbox to get rid of any dust? (without opening it)

I'd just be careful blowing it on the fans. If you spin them fast enough with the compressed air you run the chance of damaging them.

It isn't just the unit itself, it could also be your power supply. When you use compressed air, just don't blow too much...And make sure you hold the can vertical.

Open it up and use a vacuum plus compressed air.
