It looks good, don't get me wrong, I just don't know what kind of game it is. It seems to be going in a bunch of different directions and I would like a solid genre or something like that before I try it out. The feeling I got was a mixture of Doom, Fallout/Oblivion, and Borderlands. Anyone else?
its pretty much a very generic shooter with some light RPG elements. I would say borderlands has a more complex system than rage because it actually has leveling, skills, and classes. rage is just shoot shoot, walk down a corridor.... shoot some more. walk form point a to point b. All without a compelling story to tie it all together. the shooting IS fun though, and the enemies are great. there just isnt a lot there to keep you interested. horribly generic game.

The AI isn't good at all and because its programmed the bad guys are always in the same place doing the same thing if you have to start over on a mission. It takes all the challenge out of it. I already took my copy back to Game Stop and traded it in.

It's an FPS. It's not an RPG. It's not a racing game. It's an FPS.
It's just a bit different to most FPS games out there.

this... this is pretty much **** right here. yes the game does get boring fast, and yes it is generic... but the AI is EXCELLENT.
i 100% promise this person has never played the game. If there is anything about rage that is to be praised, its the graphics and the AI. both are superb.

It's a shooter with abit of that Borderlands feel. As in the quote, the missions are pretty much go from point a to point b and most of them are fetch missions. You do get to do side missions but they're nothing too special. The AI enemies are mostly fast, can come at you 3-4 at a time and it does require alittle strategy. Good thing I rented because now I'm second guessing if I want to buy it now or wait around Christmas in case Rage goes on sale.

When this game was presented to me, I was told that it was going to be this incredible open world game, with emphasis on exploration and survival. When they told me it was on three discs, I believed what I was getting was a FPS oblivion, three times the size. What I got was a game that probably could've been on 1 disc, and didn't deliver on half of what it promised. But, it does need saying that what it does well, it does right. But, again, like you said, it's really just not enough to hold attention.
