controllers not synching, then 3 red lights?!

I was watching a DVD then my console switched itself off, thenI tried it agian, and it did it agian, this time the red lights were flashing, the ring of death lights.

I turned my console on agian and this time the controlers ring of light just flashed,I tried synching them to the console but it just continued to flash,I tried my other controler and it did the same.

Have any of you had the same problems? Any help would be apprieciated. I've already had to send the console off once due to the ring of death thing.

oh gosh what a sad thing to happen at the start of the year

that's one of the precautions i take, i watch DVD movies at a separate dvd player... i don't like putting further stress on my console..

take your HDD off and see if it still dose it...
