I'm planning on making a cooling mod to an xbox 360, just adding another internalfan to the side of thecase, but I don't plan on powering it via moding the motherboard or externally with a usb cabe. My idea was to get the 12 volt mod cable (a cable that syphons power from the dvd drive) and combining that with a "y" splitter cable to share power with the original cooling fan and the one I want to add to the case.
Now, the thing is that this xbox was a rrod that I fixed. it rrod out again when I plugged an external fan into the back usb plug. I fixed it again but my concern is that to much power is being used by the machinewhen i do this; and any more might cause it to rrod out again. What I am wondering is does anyone who has modded their xbox or is knowledgeable about this thinkmymod ideawill work or will it just f**k up my machine?

Here's the best method of cooling the console without messing anything up or touching the motherboard. I got the idea to do it a while back but it works great :). This baby blows air out of your system like a monster, you're going to feel cold air coming out of every hole. All you need to do is take apart the system and make four holes in the case and simply mount this fan on it and you're done.

Another thing you could do is also tape down the heatsink fans with ducktape, the connection where the plastic and the heatsink touch has a gap so if you tape it down you've got better air control.

If you're still having issues with it, it could mean that the RROD fix wasn't done right it's simply not going to work. Next thing u could just do is get a used one flash it and reuse the mod.
