I'd go pro! Core system isn't a good deal, unless they lower the HDD price than yeah. Go pro and you'll have wireless controller, now you don't have to worry about the wires.

I think you should get core right now. You can always get the HD wire and hard drive for cheap on ebay. I know at school you don't have an HD tv, you might have a vga input for your computer but, hd wires are useless. You don't really need to download demos, hard drive will let you play old xbox games but if you wanna just play 360 games go with core.

you dont get a wireless controller. you dont get component cabels (which also come with standard hookups). you dont get the hdd. you dont get the chrome dvd faceplate. you dont get a free month of xbl gold.  forget playing online. you cant play old xbox games (maybe a couple hits like halo 2 come pre-loaded).   If none of that matter's, then get the core.  If you want to slowly upgrade, plan to spend at least $100 more than the premium system to get all the components of the premium.  (hdd $100, wireless controller $50, component/vga cabels $40-50 etc...)

Keep in mind the Core has no memory at all, no memory card or the 20gig drive. So once you buy the Core you'll have to get a $40 64mb memory card if you want to play games. At that point, you might as well get the premium for $60 with the 20 gig HDD, live headset, Component cables (works great on SD tvs too that have it), The cable also has the optical out if you plan to do surround sound to a digital receiver, then wireleses controller too. Then with the HDD, if you can connect it to the internet, all the demos are free.

NO! I did the same thing and ended up having to buy all the stuff that comes with the Premium anyway. Just go on Ebay and try to find a deal. Take it from a guy who tried what you are thinking.
