For the longest time people have complained about the cost of XBL. XBL members even tried to revolt by changing their mottos to "make xbox live free" But if you think about in the long run, XBL is only $50 a year. That's nothing! Shore it would it would be nice to have free XBL, but was it worth the fuss from so long ago?
It's not just the money though, it's the principal. And in the UK, we have to pay more for an inferior version of Live. It's a great service but I can see why people complain about the fee.
you get what you pay for and what we pay for is good, plus in the UK its only like £40 for a whole year, thats not much
if anyone really is so tight that they cant afford that then stop your belly aching and get a bloody job to pay for it, i dunno getta paper round or sumin ,,, would you rather have psn?

Doesn't look to me that people are complaining. The cost is minimal. Heck for a while a 13 month card on Amazon was under 40 bucks (they raised the price back up). Still, it is worth it to me.
I would prefer it if I could buy it a month at a time for the same equivalent price as buying a whole year. While I'm playing games like COD4 I'm easily getting value for money as I'm using it a lot, but there are months where I just don't use it at all while playing single player games like Mass Effect, Oblivion, Fallout 3. That's why when my last 12 months expired I didn't automatically renew it, instead playing a bunch of single player games while I was only on Silver, then going back to gold when I had a few online games I wanted to play again.
Well i have heard that the PSN is quite unreliable, and it is free, so perhaps it is better to have a service that you pay for to ensure reliability.ZirtKingLizard
You probably heard that from a fanboy cause I never had any problems with PSN, I think games are expensive enough without having to pay for online gaming thats why my xbox360 isn't even connected 2 the internet I just play offline
when psn or the wii network can give me the same exp for free then ill complain and even then its not a big issue 50 buks a year really is nothing almost anyone can afford that and its worth it its not like your not gonna go have a good time. Psn is def alot better thanthe ps2 days but theres still something i just dont have fun when i get on it and thats all that maters to me when it comes to games the fun factor

If XBL was free there would be even more 13 year old immature kids screaming down the headset and it would be much more laggy

Yes but instead of the usual immature kids screaming, you get the rich spoilt immature kids screaming. I find that even more annoying. I'm not poor myself (big headed lol) but it is annoying when you get the kids bragging about how their parents have bought them 80k MS Points and how they spent them on 200 gamer pic packs.
At least Steam doesnt charge you 10$ to change your name, now thats just highway robbery.
i prefer to charge to change names, its bad enough trying to work out who people are who constantly change their names, it would do my nut in if you could change your name as much as you like . id honestly end up delteing friends or not knowing who people were that i hadnt played a game or two with for a few weeks. i do it now at the moment from time to time.

They could implement something that only allows users to change their name 1 time in a certain time period(3 months as an example). Paying 10$ just to get a name change is ridiculous.
