So, I realize Halo:Reach is a prequel to the prior Halo games, but based on the ending, it looks like the Master Chief character dies, or is it not even Master Chief? I'm just a little confused. He's called "six" the whole game. Is the whole campaign completely unrelated to Master Chief?

Thanks.

Wow...This is not Master Chief. These are all new Spartans. Master Chief is in a cryo chamber on board the Pillar of Autumn. The very end of Reach is the very beginning of Halo CE.

What he says.. and Yes, Noble6 dies to inform the player that all is lost for Reach... the Covenant has it. Decent ending actually.

Did you not realise that you aren't Master Chief in Reach? Also, if you've played Halo CE, you might have noticed that there is an updated version of the opening cutscene at the end of Halo Reach. Master Chief is not in Halo Reach. (Except for an Easter Egg that I've heard about, but I dont know whethewr its true).

It's not Master Chief it's Noble 6. I really liked the ending, it was really cool to die like that.

The fact that he isn't called Master Chief should have clued you in that it isn't Master Chief you're playing as.

Initially I thought this took place after Halo 3, on another planet that wasn't aware of Master Chief, his history, etc, so they just gave him a name in their crew. I didn't exactly do a lot of research or read the game box.

It isn't master chief his name is simply noble six.

Master chief was introduced in halo 1 CE

the campaign is a story of how the world reach fell to the covenant and started the war for the halos between the aliens and humans. The biggest part of the story is you saving cortana the AI and it being brought aboard for master chief to use in halo 1.

I don't blame you for being confused, the campaign wasn't that well written.

SilentSoprano

Yeah in your opinion it wasn't well written but the fact of the matter is that everyone knew that this was a prequel to halo 1 and if you dont know what that means go and get a dictionary. Never once was noble six EVER called master chief that should have been a dead give away. What sort of issues did you have with the campaign that made it so confusing for you? It was clever and very well thought out you had many missions to do that helped the planet reach and a very good master chief easter egg at the end which i am sure 90% of halo reach players have not even seen yet.

Honestly, I thought the Reach campaign was pretty lame. Horrible character development (didn't feel attached to any of the squad), spotty writing sometimes, a lot of the missions were bland and it felt like I had to keep doing the same stuff sometimes ( how many times did I have to destroy some Covenant defense), the only surprises were how the squad died (you pretty much knew they would all perish anyways). Just because you have the squadmates all die "noble deaths" doesn't make it great writing. The point is that it was hard to care for any of them in the first place because it felt like I barely knew them even by the end of the game. I didn't think Halo 3 campaign's was amazing either, but I was expecting a lot more out of Reach. They are way too focused on the multiplayer nowadays, its detracted from the campaign imo.

Not to mention they still didn't add in Custom Maps matchmaking. I mean cmon, how many people have 6-8 people to play with at once, unless you send invites to people you don't even know. Theater Mode only can be viewed by yourself now? What's up with that.
