creating your own 360 dashboard themes

So I was reading about this today, seems you can just save a jpeg image on a usb drive, plug it into your xbox 360 and upload it as your xbox 360 dashboard theme

has anyone done this? I want to try it out, im at work right now but im gonna try it tonight

does this work? I am gonna be loving it if it does as I will be able to make great themes instead of the crap ones available for download, and no previews available ever

Yeah I've tried it once. I had my PC connected to my 360 so when that's done you just go to pictures and select one. If you're using a USB it's the same thing. The only thing is that one picture takes over all four blades. You can't do custom themes yet which is a downside, but it saves you the cash from all those themes that you can't even preview.

well still one pic is great, i could just put one of my favorite bands, skate or snowboard pics up and it would be better than what the GTA 4 theme I still have going.

I had no idea my 360 was capable of this. I guess it's true, you do learn something every day.

Seems it works with most portable devices too - I copied a picture from my MP3 player and another from a digital camera. Very nice stuff. I don't know if I'd call it a theme, but it's something that could definitely be used in combonation with an existing theme, since it only affects the background for the blades and not any Xbox Guide menus.

if it's good enough for your computer's desktop wallpaper, it'll be fine for the 360.

Unfortunately not. The template pic was from the dashboardthemes site which shut down ages ago. You can make a 4:3 one by streaming this pic to your 360 and then editing it so everything fits in place. It will mainly be a case of trimming down the side borders but it will meana lot of back and forthing to get the right dimensions.

This thing is, you have to make sure the image is set up in a certain way. Since the bottom half of the pic wont be seen because itll be covered by the NXE.

Yeah I did this. You can also do images you find in google or other seach engines.

I've tried it. As you'd probably expect it doesn't look too good unless most of the focus of the picture is like on the top half.vashkey

I'm rather surprised (and sad) that there isn't a dashboard theme creator app out there for people to make their own 360 themes, for either the original or the NXE dashboard.codezer0
