Depends on your preference like everything in life. They are 2 different genres. If you prefer RPGs more than go with Mass effect. If not go with Assassins creed.
Why do people ask others to help them decide on their preference?
ME is more like an RPG? i thought it was more of a shooter o.O
anyway im gonna get both but if i HAD to choose only one, like if my life depended on it... i guess id go with assassins creed.. just cuz it looks to be more of an original experience than ME
but the stiles of the games are so different, its hard to choose creed over ME
it depends on the day for me. right now mass effect but ive been equally hyped for both. im going to get both at some point but i dont know in what order yet so it comes down to reviews for me

hmmm its kinda like a Role Playing Shooter soooo RPS. I guess that could be Bioshock too. NEW TYPE OF GENRE RPS :D Anyway i cant decide im getting both so....BOTH

lol cool, i havent read much about it, just saw some vids, but dont get me wrong im hyped as hell for ME
I will eventually get them both but for me it's Mass Effect first. I'm more into Sci-Fi games than the medieval games but don't get me wrong the medieval games rock big time as well.
