Cross-platform Online Gaming?

A friend of mine just got a 360. I'm a PC gamer. I know Shadowrun is basically dead, but it seems like the only other cross-platform (360 & PC) game I can find is Universe at War. So, anyone know any good games being developed that will feature PC/360 cross-compatability?

I'd rather microsoft and sony will drop the fued and link the two that would be awesome. Anyway I heard unreal tournament 3 could do that but I don't know.69ANT69

So your not being a Fanboy? You didn't call people who use microsoft products "Dimwits" and say that there is no chance of cross platform gaming simply because of microsoft...?

I guess your right... I must be a "Dimwit" because I use an Xbox360...

What I don't understand is how it could be microsoft's fault... they allow games to be run with individual host for each game so that if there is a sever issue through the developer... the entire online will not be unavailable... while on the other hand... games on the PS3 each have a dedicated server that all online matches for the particular game are played off of... so if that server ever just stopped working... the entire online game would stop working as well...

It is also both systems fault for the in-ability to cross-platform simply because Xbox Live and PS Network are so different in terms of online services... to allow them to connect would require extreme changes on both systems to allow a connection... there are just so many things that would need changing that it isn't even funny...

Seriously how fun would it be to play online using a 360 against someone using a PC when the PC user will have an obvious advantage in most games using the mouse and keyboard, the only games I can see it working in would be sports games.Eric_Drav3n

Practice with ur contoller more u can beat it. But it wouldn't work in somthing like utIII. Maybe gears 2 or OFP2 that will have a full map editor on both systems

It is extremely hard to master precise movement with a controller... a good scenario to prove the difference is to plug a mouse and keyboard into a ps3 and surf the internet browser... then unplug the mouse and keyboard and see how difficult it is to be precise in where you want the cursor to go... same deal with games...

Thanks for the replies, guys. I was hoping that Gears would have cross platform online play so I could do co-op with my pal. And I don't see how it's unfair if I'm using a controller too. I'm not looking to grind his nose into the dirt with better m&k reflexes, just to do some friendly online play. Anyways, guess I'll have to save some $$$ and buy a 360.

Thats a massive insult, I'm not a huge fan of the PS3, I'm an 360 fan, I just think it would be cool to play ps3 owners
