As the topic states. My old xbox - from the launch, would you believe it! -has gone cranky (chews up discs, takes power-naps). I bought a new 'arcade' since I figured I could still use my old 20Gb HDD.

Now, I've heard that the DLC I've downloaded is console-specific, and that I need to re-register it on my new box. Is this true? If so, how do I do it?

I've not been able to find anything on this on xbox.com, and I'm reluctant to call the support (they don't seem to know what they're doing). It might not even be a problem, I'm in the middle of a move and haven't had time to plug it in and check it out yet.

Any help at all is much appreciated.

Thanks.

I'm pretty sure that DLC is tied to your Xbox Live account, so as long as you move your account to your next Xbox 360 you should be fine.

Here's what you need: Transferring Content Licenses to a New Console

I've got two 360s (don't ask) and one is an arcade and the other is an old 20 gigger just like in your scenario. All i've ever had to do is plug the hard drive into the arcade and log on to XBL and everything works perfect as far as DLC and XBLA games go.

Ah, yes, I just tried it and it works just fine (so far, *knocks on wood*). For future reference, for whomever might need it:that migration thingie is just if you intend to play with a new HDD on a new xbox, but with your old content. Mayhaps it works for me (and you) because I've registered them both under the same account on xbox.com. I remember trying to bring my HDD to my friend's place a few years back to play some of my arcade-games, and it didn't work. Ah well, not my problem anymore!
