I started playing it last week, and got through the first 3 levels and kinda got bored and moved onto another game. However, I heard that if you get passed like the first 4 levels, the game becomes kinda fun, but still nothing great.
The entire game is pointless. It's a bad Gears of War rip-off. I got bored with the game about half way through buy forced myself to finish it because I wanted the easy achievement points.

the game is sick, its a solid 8/10 imo.its like 10$ now and def. worth the pick up. get it used if you want to believe these dudes that it suckz...
It was originally supposed to be a stealth game, and it looked really cool. Then they made it average and stupid. It is repetitive, pointless, and crappy. Just another bad Gears ripoff. I don't recommend it for 5 dollars.

I think it WAS in production before gears but they totaly changed the type of game that it started out as around the time gears came out...
I thought it was decent, but it just dragged as the game went on. It sort of became more of a RE4 knock off than anything else. You start off killing mysterious people, and by the end you're just killing mutant monsters and zombie like creatures. I'd say a good 8/10, but at the same time once you play though the first few levels you've seen it all.
I loved it. I don't care how much it borrowed from Gears, it was still a very fun experience. For cheap, it's worth the buy. No one plays online though I'll tell you that.

I agree, I really didnt listen to reviews I took a chance and bought it and loved it
I thought it was alright, of course I oln y played the demo. it had a dark and disturbing atmosphere, which is a good thing. the MAJOR flaw is that it doesn't really present anything new. in other games the enemies run around using strategy. but in Dark Sector, the enemies just stand there. the game just wan't very innovative. but with some tweaks, it could have been a truly great game :D

but, yeah i think i will pick it up since i saw a couple positive opinions and also because i have a friend on live who was always telling me how much he loved this game.
I was looking forward ot Dark Sector so much and I got it on day of release on PS3. I didn't know if I had set high standards for it over the time I tracked it but I was hugely disapointed. I played through the full game because it would have seemed like wasted time tracking it if I hadn't.
TBH, I picked it and DMC4 up about a month ago, and I wish I hadn't picked Dark Sector up. It's a samey romp through some horribly repetitive/contrived levels (f.e. daylight = mostly urban fighting with hazamat dudes, night = grim zombie fighting) It has repetitive gameplay, which hangs on a fairly fun gimmick, but the glaive doesn't add ENOUGH to make it stand out. With everything coming out in the next, hell, week, save your money
dark sector is terrible. your glaive feels about as powerful as a poorly thrown frisbee at the beach, if you can even get it to hit your target that is. the camera is pulled in too close, you're about as mobile as steven hawking, and your character looks like he based his entire appearence on a mentally unstable love child between leon from re4 and dante from dmc. the controls are unresponsive, it rips off the gears aiming system, while attempting to scare you with enemies that were apparent from a mile away. oh yeah, and the shop keeper (who is a blatent ripoff of the merchant in re4) lives in a sewer. you'll get to him to get some new weapons, if you can even figure out how to get the ****ing manhole cover opened. the game is incredibly broken, an excercise in monotony, and can't improve on the concepts it rips off from games that are almost 4 years old.

This is what I thought pretty much. It had it's moments, but I got very bored of it. I got it for 17$ off of Amazon brand new, and never even beat it. Would have been worth playing a while ago, but there's so much better you can get right now, even around the same price range.
i really enjoyed it once you get passes like the 4th level you have like ultimate control over your glavie so it becomes easy and fun! not challenging and very repeative but still a fun time.
I thought it was great the first time around if you don't set any expectations. But for some reason, I could not get myself to play through it a second time. I cringed trying to play it again. I don't know.. I say rent it or get it used or really cheap new off eBay. I bet you can find a copy for $10-20.
