Dark Sector Is it Good?

Don't pass this one up.

I had very high expectations for this and Army of Two, only Dark Sector has been able to stand up to my expectations. There is alot of gore, alot of shooting and slicing, bu they have also introduced some cool new stuff with the glaive weapon. The play control is very similar to Gears, with acouple additions. The finishing moves are pretty cool as well. I only have a couple quams with it so far, there is no crouching, but there is cover, it is a little too dark in sections, and I have gotten stuck a couple times but besides that, if you liked Gears, this one is definately worth a rent.

Dark Sector is awsome.. Its got the best weapon i've ever been in control of.. Not to mention the duck and cover system which i think alot of TPS are missing now a days.. :) Not being able to crouch does suck, but other then that everythings pretty top knotch.. Oh, and the boss fights are amazing.. Most satisifying boss fights i've had in long time, actually.

I like it pretty good so far. Only thing that bugs me is the camera controls when you run. But it's not that bad. Im on Chapter 4 right now I believe.

As far as online goes. Infection is pretty cool. But I'm not so much into the Epedimic mod.

I give the game overall a 8.5

The game is awesome in every way. 9.5/10 is what I would give it. My only problem is they don't give you enough info so you have to figure everything out by yourself, which makes some parts harder.

wow thats a shocker from what i heard it wasnt to great from xplay, they tend to be harsh but they said its a bad story line and context sensitive controls are bad. so i was sceptical, never played gears, might get this after all... just depends. i might start doing game fly if money gets better, im so cheap i can afford rentals, work is giving a bonus thats why im getting a game period lol.

I havn't played and I'm staying away from it. Every repeat every review it has gotten has said it was terrible to average. Not worth my money.Ket87

You played Lost, though? :| If you suffered through that nightmare, then you might aswell give a superior game a spin.

Lost is my favorite show, I played it knowing it would be a terrible game. So did anyone else who played that or any other cash-in game. Its because your a fan of that property in a different medium.

Dark Sector has nothing to fall back on, I'm sure some people enjoy it but when a game is universally hated by reviewers not just the odd balls like GameSpot that means it is definitely lacking. Funny you mentioned Lost because it actually got high scores from some review sites, I remember some high 8's and even a 9 being on the list of reviews for it.

I don't take the word of a single review as the gospel because one game can get a good score there and a bad score there but if a game gets all bad score theres something wrong. Sorry if you don't feel that way but I do.

I hear ya. That's why I stopped paying attention to reviews. This is my second game on the Xbox 360 (since I purchased it Christmas 2007) where I didnt care about reviews. Lost Odyssey was the other. I'm on Chapter 4, and my impressions so far has been great. There are many things that this game does different from Gears of War. The glaive is spectacular and it never gets old, especially when you fire it up with electricity, or flame, which I've only encountered so far. A game that looks great, usually is great. I go with gut feeling, and this game looked awesome since its very first announcement. I just had a great feeling about this game, and I was absolutely right. If I had to rate it just on my impressions so far, I would rate it a 8.8. I have a feeling it's only going to get better. One thing reviews had right was the storytelling. It's definitely lacking in that department but what do you expect from a Gears of War type of action game? I just wish there were more characters involved, more storytelling, and this game would be a 9.0. Graphics look amazing. Some parts look even better than GOW. And the multiplayer is highly addicting. They just need to add some DLC for more game modes and maps. I love the multiplayer and I think it is a whole lot of fun. I noticed you couldnt choose difficulty setting. I have no clue why there arent options for that, for I was really bummed! It would be nice to have difficulty setting options and achievements set accordingly for each. That was probably my biggest disappointment about this game, besides the storytelling. I wouldnt worry about carrying over weapons from a previous completed game, because you'll find that you will be using the glaive a lot, and it's highly addicting and fun. It never gets old. I do use the pistol though, dual wielding it with the glaive. Perfect combo. Popping headshots and slicin' legs off. It's so fun, you gotta pick this game up if you loved Gears of War, or even if you didnt. Definitely worth the $60. Ignore all reviews now, and erase them from your mind. I hate it when people listen to reviews and haven't tried the game out for themselves. Try asking a friend. Gamer input is more valuable to me then what one guy at gaming website says. User score is the curve to follow and pay attention to, not what one guy has to say about it all. "Bob on ilovegames.com rated a game 7.0. Oh my god, I'm not buying this game, it sucks because it got a 7.0!" Of course, there are games that rightfully deserve low scores, while others dont. Go with your gut feeling.

I haven't played it yet, but from what I've heard it's pretty good.

The game is good not great. I have cleared the first 2 chapters and enjoying it. Ive not played multiplayer but I really dont see a high replay factor. Almost exactly like gears as far as graphics and controls. Id give the game a 7.5 maybe an 8 but no crouch is kind of annoying and enough to drop it a half point. Overall good game.CorporateHammer

Why is not being able to crouch such a big deal? You couldn't crouch in gears, unless you were in cover, and that game is awsome! The only problem I've found with this game is that it doesn't have blindfiring, which would come in handy during some parts. Other than that I haven't really found any problems, I'd give it a solid 8.5 and then tell you to buy it, because it's worth it.

but seriously, if you don't play this game you are seriously missing out on one of the greatest games coming out this year, if not one of the greatest games of all time, so go buy it and don't waste ur money on crap like lost and condemned 2
