Just seeing if anyone has picked this up yet and has any early impressions. I'm planning on picking it up this evening but was a little concerned because many sites have not reviewed it and those that have, have scored it low.

i saw some footage on xplay they gave it 2 out of 5, said it was a non fun gears of war clone with shotty context sensitive actions, like doge for cover and roll are same button so you roll instead of duck and get shot, lots of hide behind x object and shoot y and z guy, rinse repeat. monsters look good game is pretty but just not very well done, dialog was bad too from what they said story is not for those who like that stuff... if you really want to dice people up it might give you a fix, but i suggest renting first to see how you like it, why waste 60 if 6 can save you?Twisted-Ice-God
I'll probably be picking up Viking instead.
ok i didnt understand anything you said...the game footage looks awesome, and when some reviewers compares it to gears but with clunky controls and a bad story i ask myself this question....werent the controls for gears confusing at first also (like when you running and all of a sudden you just run up against a wall that you just wanted to run by), and the story in gears sucks way bad...there actually wasnt really a story...anyway gears sp was fun but had no story, and its mp was fun...in ds i would like a good story but as long as its fun i can deal with it...im really hoping the mp is good

the more i read reviews, the more i distrust them.
Well i never get shooters for a deep story, i want some action through different areas and shoot people. If i want a deep story i look for a rpg.
What i recall you cant duck in gears of war unless you stand next to some cover
I think this game will be good, not best game ever but good and that is enough ;)

i would choose viking over dark sector ive heard dark sector got 10hours playtime only! :oops:CrazyFox_444
ok 10 hours is average for sp...i beat gears of war sp in 6 hours and everyone loves that game...every shooter sp game is about 10 hours in length so that does not scare me and would not make me choose viking over ds...viking looks terrible and is getting bad reviews...ds looks good and is getting bad reviews but a lil better than viking
I've only got to play through the first 3 chapters so far, but the game is alot of fun, especially the glaive. The finishers are alot of fun to pull off, the control's feel great you don't stick to everything like crazy like in gears. Only got to play one of the online modes so far and it was ok, nothing to special but its something i could see myself playing again.etbny22
this this just goes to show you that you can't put to much weight on reviews.

Yeah I know. I'm renting this game regardless of the reviews.

From now on the only reviews I will be trusting are non-paid game reviewers, ie. we gamers. If I like what I hear then, well I will most likely give said game a go. At any rate I will be renting both of those games and the reviews for both I have seen vary greatly.
They have not reviewed it because they are too busy having fun playing it. It looks like it is going to be awesome. I am taking the chance and buying it regardless. Half of the "official" review site people don't know what fun is anyways (ahem - Jeff Gerstman sp?). That is why he is now working at McDonald's. Would you like fries with that Jeff?? Bioshock was awesome, and he gave it a worse review than Halo 3!?! Just say "no", Jeff. Back on topic, I saw some recent videos over at gametrailers.com, and it looks sweet! I hope we will not be disappointed. BTW, another pet peave of mine is people who complain that a game is not great because it does not have multiplayer (Bioshock). Then when games put in a multiplayer component that is not that great anyway, people complain that the single player game is too short. There is only one disc to fit it all on people. Make up your mind. I would rather have a long, awesome single player game (Bioshock), than a short one with a thrown together multiplayer with more deathmatch and CTF. Oh well, just venting. Hope you like the game. I will be checking for players opinions moreso than site reviewers myself. Game on!! jmcarthurYou know you can use more discs like Lost Odyssey?
TC I just bought dark sector and I say: if you think you will like this game you will love it. But if you go into it with speculation it will kill you.DonMega187I agree. I just bought Ninja Gaiden DS, Rainbow Six Vegas 2, and Dark Sector. I put in Dark Sector when I got home and havent put Vegas 2 in yet. Dark Sector is just mindless, challenging, frisebee of death fun. I would say 8.25 out of 10 for me =).
I rented it the game is really fun.
It's a lot like Gear, but with a big shinny blade growing out of your arm.
The glaive is a lot of fun to play with and the gameplay is fun, but other than getting achievements it doesn't seem like a game you'd play again and again.
Even the achievements are pretty easy. I got 28 out of 38 my first play through without play mp.
It's a great rental, but imo not worth a buy.
i might just get it, the game i cant wait for and i so hope it doesnt disapoint is prototype... that looks sick... that and mushroom men, but thats another board altogether lolTwisted-Ice-God
I can't wait for Prototype either.
I really hope it's as good as it looks.
