If you want a real challenge that provides you with a gamer euphoria unlike any other after accomplishing seemingly impossible tasks then Dark Souls. If you want a gaming experience that draws you into a virtual fantasy world where you can do what ever you want whenever you want then Skyrim. Watch some gameplay of both of them to get a taste of what you can expect.

I have Dark Souls and it's a pretty great game. However, the difficulty is rather high (I think it's harder than Demon's Souls) so I don't really recommend it unless you can play it first or buy it used and are able to return it if you don't like it.

Skyrim will probably be more immersive and provide more things to do without ever getting frustrating. Granted, there will probably be bugs on release but they should be patched soon enough.

I know when I get Skyrim at the midnight release I probably won't be playing Dark Souls for a while. So I'd suggest Skyrim.

Basically, if you want a very well done, hard game (with some framerate issues that can be rather intense) then Dark Souls the game for you. If you get it just know that in order to actually exit the game you should go to the ingame menu, exit the game, and then shutdown your system. I just shutdown my system and the data got corrupt, so it's good to follow the steps. If you want to become involved in a world and explore for countless hours then Skyrim is definitely the way to go.

Both will probably be great games, just different.

Personally, I'd go with Dark Souls. I'm sure Skyrim will be great, but you know it's gonna be buggy as hell when it launches. I'm waiting until it's been patched a few times before I buy it. I'm playing Dark Souls ATM. It's already one of my all-time favourite games. It's so good, everything else I play seems crap. I'm about 35 hours into Dark Souls so i decided to take a little break from it and I rented Uncharted 3 and Rage. All I can think of while I play them is Dark Souls. They're good, but they're no Dark Souls. Dark Souls is more exciting than both of them, even though it plays at a slower pace.

Dark Souls is a fun game. Can't say anything about Skyrim since obviously haven't played it. I do know Skyrim will actually have a story compare to DS. If you loved the previous Elder Scrolls than I'm sure you'll like it. If you are patient get DS now and then wait a year and a half when they release goyt edition. I'm sure they will release one.

That is a very tough one. But for a fantastic story, and the ability to do whatever you want whenever you want in a gigantic world, then skyrim. If you want an experience filled with intense moments that require and large amount of skill due to extreme difficulty that makes you feel like a bad ass after doing it successfully. then dark souls is what you want.

They are 2 totally different games. Skyrim is all about story and immersion where as Dark souls is about the challenge and the reward. I'd say go with Skyrim and when you beat it trade it for Dark souls. You'll be set for life then.

Depends on what you want, both (from previews of skyrim) are very deep, have many many hours of play and huge worlds to explore but the main difference is going to be challenge. Do you fancy playing a dungeon crawler and getting your butt kicked repeatidly but with massive reward? Then get darksouls but if you want a much broader adventure that doesnt want to kill you every 5 minutes and has more focus on exlporation then get skyrim. Personally I'll be getting skyrim

if possible, get both eventually. you can't play both games simultaneously, so just buy one, and buy the other one in a few months time.

I'm debating this myself but im probably going to get darksouls. Darksouls is probably quicker action and awsome setpeices. And the online componnet of this game doesnt compare to any other game.

yes, prob not near the total in skyrim but demon souls had a lot and theres deff even more in dark souls. Alot of it is searching for the best gear and finding what goes with weapons to maximize use

Definitely Skyrim... Ignore the fact that gamespot gave dark souls a 9.5 and gave Skyrim a 9.0 because while dark souls may be a good rpg game, nothing can top an elder scrolls game when it comes to rpg's.

My wife is playing Skyrim right now and I have to say my vote is for skyrim. I like how the votes have been increasingly more for skyrim on posts dated on skyrims release date and were just guesses before.
