So I have a PC that will most likely be able to run Dark Souls when it releases on PC in a few months. However, I still like playing some games on console and Dark Souls may be one of them. The only legitimate problem that I see with the Xbox and PS3 version is the framerate. While on PC I will be able to lower settings if the framerate is unacceptable, I have noticed that on the console versions, it is very noticeable in places, even during 1v1 combat in confined spaces (usually PvP).

Are these framerate issues enough to discourage me from getting the game on Xbox and wait for the PC port?

no matter what wait or not it's a GREAT game and i would be happy pay 60 bucks for it again and i can't say that for most games. Depending how you feel about mods get it for pc. I played it on 360 for at least 50hrs. and the frame rate never interrupted my enjoyment. I didn't come across any game issue that destroyed my enjoyment in the slightest

Good to know. Since it is a port, I doubt that the PC version will support mods. I just noticed that there was some bad framerates in some gameplay videos and even trailers, and it was brought up in reviews, so I looked at a video about framerates and was appalled to see that the FPS dropped below 20 and even below 15. But if it doesn't hamper enjoyment, I will gladly put down the cash.

I've played it on PS3 and I will be buying it on PC since that's my preferred platform and I've sold the PS3 version. I notice dthe framerate in some areas of the game dip to below 10FPS at times. This didn't happen very often, but it was a memorable occurance.

You have to ask yourself whether you can wait until August when the PC version is released. I would reccomend waiting. You'll be playing it at a much higher resolution and with new content, so there's more to play and the game will look a lot sharper and cleaner.

If you like RPG's it's a must! I don't know about the frame rate problems, I have it on PS3 and never had that issue. However I'm sure the 360 version got patched or something and fixed by now.

BUY IT! You'll love it, trust me.

Supposedly the PC version comes with new content, so if you don't care about GFWL then I'd wait for the PC version unless the Xbox version is like $30 now, though nobody knows if the new content will come to consoles yet so its a gamble I guess.

you do realized that the PC version is locked in 30 FPS and has no option to lower the settings right? the PC version is a Straight port with more Bosses and Locations, if you don't care for the Extra Locations and enemies get the Console Version.

For the 360 version, sooner rather than later would be better since the online community will only be getting smaller. The MP is a huge part of this game and what sets it apart from other games.

The PC version is literally as straight a port as you can have. They have no experience in developing PC games and as far as I can tell, the framerate is locked to 30fps and all they did was up the resolution a small bit. Everything else is identical, except of course for the new content.

Also, doesn't it use GFWL?

They listened to the petitions and said that they are looking into other methods.

Are these framerate issues enough to discourage me from getting the game on Xbox and wait for the PC port?

Take into account that Dark Souls will be released via Windows Live for the PC. Windows Live is terrible for a number of reasons.

no telling if the pc port is going to be up to snuff so never assume that, I would wait for pc still though and then make a choice after you read the reviews on it though.

IT'S TERRIBLE. Don't by it either way. It's tough but it's not "challenging" in the appropriate way. It's simply cheap. I wasted 60 bucks on it, unfortunately.

I have purchased it for Xbox 360. I got it for $15. First, I will be able to play it over the summer. If I really like it, then I will get it for PC for later versions if the port is up to snuff.
