data transfer question

i ordered a elite from dell ,to upgrade from my 20 gig early model 360 . i have seen major nelsons video on the subject and it looks pretty straightforward . my question is the data transfer doesn't transfer game saves does it ? only xbox live purchases ? unless i "apply" for the free cable from microsoft .

If all you do is recover your Gamertag through XBL then all you will have is your Gamertag w/ achievements/gamerscore and the ability to redownload any previous purchases. If you use the data transfer kit, it will transfer everything (Gamertag, game saves, downloads, music, etc.) to your new hard drive. Hope that answers your question.

yeah do the transfer. I just did mine last week and it only took a week for the cable to get to me. Make sure to call and order it though instead of doing it online.
