Anyone hyped for this?

The first dead rising is the reason I got an xbox 360... Saw the commercials, had to buy it.

Save system ruined it for me, which I'm hoping will be better in dead rising 2? If so, then I'm sort of hyped. what about everyone else?

Somebody posted and article stating that the save system is still intact...right then and there I decided I would not buy the game.

If the first game had on the spot saving then It would have been a GOTY title, sadly you had to locate save areas in inconvenient times.

I am hyped, and I found nothing at all wrong with the save system.

It was the time-rails restraint that I found annoying, but it did apply some pressure while playing the game. Still an awesome game, though.

What was wrong with the save system?

Not in the slightest. I liked the first game but the constant delays to DR2 and the fact that we haven't seen much of the game and with it being developed by a different studio makes me worry about it.

I don't think Ill get it because I heard the whole game is timed again. If there's one thing I hate in a game, it's timed missions, especially when the whole game is a giant timed mission. But if it's not I'll get it when it's used.

I personally think the first Dead Rising wouldn't be half as interesting with a different (read standard) kind of save system. The one they used was perfect for that game in my opinion. Anyway, I'm not really hyped for the second one, but I'm definitely looking forward to it.

So I guess if you can't save a game whenever and wherever you want to, the save system sucks?

Sheesh, spoon fed from a silver platter these days.

No, but saving was really hard and I found myself going back a few hours into gameplay because of the save system.

I really enjoyed the first game but my favorite part was the infinity mode or whatever it was called at the end where you just tried to stay alive as long as you could. I had one of the top scores for a while. I have to say though that I was really turned off by the wacky games they've added to it - I'm not sure that I am even going to try it unless I see some serious gameplay that doesn't seem like it was made for kids.

The first dead rising was horrible IMO. The saving locations were terrible, and I hated that you were timed, the second one has no hype from me whatsoever.

I personally felt the exact same way. I didn't buy my 360 for the game or anything, but I loved the game until the save system screwed me into about 3 restarts. I still havent finished it, and dont plan on it until this serious streak of big name games slows down.

yes I'm hyped, can't wait to play it. i hope they don't change the save and mission mechanics, it worked perfectly for that type of game.

most people crying about it think they should be able to master it on their first try and beat the game while saving all the survivors. it's not a game for babies that's for sure.

I'm glad I'm not the only one that thinks the save system was perfectly fine. Dead Rising was the first game I beat for the 360, and it was actually the first game in a long time that held my interest long enough to finish it. (Resident Evil for the Gamecube was the last one previous)

I love the idea of being able to restart the game when you die, and keeping your progress in leveling. Everytime I would die I would have to decide to start over or not, always considering thatI would be able to handle earlier situations more easily with the new abilities, health, and inventory slots. I think I restarted quite a few times, lol. Anyways... I'm psyched for the sequel.

alright i mastered dr1 and there was no doubt about it....the save and time system was perfect. if you just restart and keep your level about 8 times you will start the game with mad slots and health. at level 50 i can blast throught the whole first half of the game up until you meet isabella. its not even really difficult, people who dont like it buy it thinking its gta with zombies but its not. also use the freakin abilitys people...frank learns them for a reason!

also they go for the guns. if you try to get through dead rising with just guns then you obviously lost the point of the whole game...not to mention it makes it ten times harder. i can take just a chainsaw with 3 books and a machette and beat the game with just those weapons (stopping to refresh the item after a while)
the problem is dead rising has such a awesome flavor to it i dont think anyone can recreate that in a sequal. it doesnt have the same feel to it.
so what have we learned kids about dead rising?
1)dont use guns
2)use franks moves
3)restart until you are at level 30 at least to start the game
4) always give survivors swords or shotguns
5)use the quick spot (frank tells the survivors to hide in a shop while he fights)

follow these steps and if you still cant proceed then its not the game my friends, its your lack of skill...lol.

You don't get it lol...people are complaining BECAUSE you have to restart the game 3-4 times, who the hell wants to do that ? you mean to tell me you don't know how restarting a game 3 times can frustrate someone into hating the save system ??? c'mon.

i think i might get flamed for this, but am i the only person who felt dead rising 1 sucked? I played gears of war 1 as myf irsat xbox game so when i popped in DR1 i was simply unimpressed and rather furstrated. I felt the shooting mechanics sucked, using a mannequin got boring after the first shot, the photos werent thatcool, things felt stiff, time saved, bosses were meh, ultimately i found myself forcing myself to play it; no one should ever force themselves to play a game. i rememeber it leaving such a bad impression on me that i decided i would pass up on zombie games, even left 4 dead(i was real dumb for doing that, but i have played L4d1 and 2 and love them both). i had many arguments with some friends who thought itDR1 was a good game, but i could never see eye to eye with them.i mean im willing to try out the demo to see if there changing a few things, but if it remains primarily like the first one ill pass, ill stick to left 4 dead.

but it takes like ten minutes to level up, some ppl play rainbow six and die 300 times in a row before they get to a certain point...yet restarting 3 times in ten minutes is crazy>? i played ngb and beat it on master ninja dieing about 250 times. 50 on alma alone, she took 3 days of stragety mining to beat her. if restarting 3 times to boost a level is soo hard then maybe they just dont like the game. but to say its bad because you arent good at it isnt fair to the game. the game is great if you want to learn and play it. if i just gave up after getting frustrated i wouldnt beat anything ever.

People replay other games all of the time... so why doesn't Dragon Age Origins suck? Or Mass Effect? Lol... Okay, I shouldn't compare two incredible games to Dead Rising, but seriously... if you have such a gripe with restarting the game after an hour or so (with the mindset of "holy crap, I can now hold more weapons and more health... I'll really slaughter them now!!), then you just don't like the gameplay, and it has nothing to do with the save system or restarting. I LOVE the gameplay and all of the weapons in the game, (and the Dawn of the Dead knockoff story), so I loved restarting, just to do the beginning better.

Maybe it also helps that when I play Dead Rising I usually have "Dawn of the Dead" playing on a TV next to me... Mmmm... Zombies...

I can agree with this, the other guy compared it to dying in Rainbow Six Vegas (which has checkpoints) so I didn't really get were he was going with that lol.

It was a stretch to compare those two massive Bioware games, but it all boils down to gameplay and what you enjoy (especially if you try and play Dead Rising as a shooter... which it wasn't designed for).

I don't care if some people hated the gameplay, but I find it a bit hard to swallow when people blame the save/restart mechanic, as if having to save at only specific points has never been done in games before. Far Cry 2 comes to mind... and Dead Space... and the first Final Fantasy on the 8-bit Nintendo, lmao.

is the save system really that bad?

you can save anytime you want to in the game just by going to the bathrooms or security room. basically, numerous other games work the same way where you save the game by going to a certain areas designated for it.

the game asks you if you want to save each time you finish a "scoop." again, like many other games, this serves as a check-point. if you die, you can re-start from the last save.

you have 1 save-slot per profile, but so do many games out today. Assassin's Creed, BioShock, Call of Duty, Left 4 Dead... countless others I can't think of at the top of my head.

I stopped playing the first one as soon as I found out I had a time limit to finish it; That is the single most annoying feature you could even put in a game.

I wish the character in the first game wasn't such a loser.

XxXCrimsonXxX

?!?!? How was he a loser? Seemed like an average guy to me a kick a** one for that matter, after all he is going through something that most people around him failed at surviving.

Ho yeah I cant wait for the next game that will be one of the only Xbox titles i'll preorder XD. Kind of bummed out that the camera option is gone I thought it was a great addition to the game although they could have done so much more with it.

Never understood all the crying over this save system. The game was built on playing against the clock, and taking one minute to save added to the time pressure. The save points were scattered all over the mall. If you forgot to save, blame yourself. Talk about hand holding.

They'd need to change a lot more than the save system for me to get into Dead Rising 2. I didn't have any issue with that in DR1 but still thought the game was crummy.

Anyone hyped for this?

The first dead rising is the reason I got an xbox 360... Saw the commercials, had to buy it.

Save system ruined it for me, which I'm hoping will be better in dead rising 2? If so, then I'm sort of hyped. what about everyone else?

Wakanoid

same here. if the save system is improved the game will be great. the only downside is the game is not by the same people. but the videos look good so far. might be a great game still.
