I love the entire concept of Dead Rising, and the game altogether. however, I hate how you have to follow a strict time limit for different events that occur in the game. I love to exploregames and feelthem out, but with Dead Rising I felt so rushed to do everything...

First, did anyone else feel this way?

Second, anyway (cheats.. etc.) to eliminate the time restraint?

i feel the same way. Its not even the save system that bugs me. its the damn 'you have to be here at this time or its game over' gameplay that is keeping me from putting it in my 360. I just really wish it wasnt like that. I feel so rushed and can't enjoy what im doing,

it is annoying, but i get why the time constraints are there.
it can be exciting trying to get to a certain place in time.
i keep meaning to replay dead rising.

like heres an example of why i stopped playing. the part with the clown and the roller coaster. I had decided to do this mission, but then when i get over there, realize i hav to fight this boss guy, i dont have any type of weapon to beat him. I have like a knife and a frying pan. and all the shops in that area are all clothes stores (how boring). I had saved right before the encounter with the clown, but even so, the time it took to run all the way over there was wasted. I would never have time to go find a suitable weapon, get back, and kill him. Firstly because his mission might have expired, or it would have made me late to a primary mission. So i stopped playing right there cuz it annoyed me

Infinity mode sucks....they messed it up when they made it so you slowly lose your health over time and that food and what not in the mall does not regenerate...and you can't save it while you play infinity mode.

I didn't mind the time constraints...thought it created more urgency and suspense

You may want to check out this guide: http://www.neoseeker.com/resourcelink.html?rlid=139853&rid=130057 It explains how to play the game without having any cases to complete. You have to kill 600 zombies in the beginning when the zombies break in. (When the old lady trys to get her dog.) Doing this at low level would be pretty rough though as there are not many weapons around there. I think the best reason to do this, would be to get the zombie genocider achievement and get the real mega buster. As you still get 72 hours and will get an ending.. Just no main cases to complete. (I have not tried this yet, but the link to the guide was given to me when I was talking about how it would be fun to just kill zombies with no missions.)

The way the game is designed is that you can pick and choose what you want to do, usually. There are only a few "case" files that are pretty tight on time. Otherwise, you can skip some things and pick and choose what you want to do. This is one the few games that I actually replayed 3 times just to do all the different sort of things in it.

This is one of those games that really benefits from the Achievement Point system. You can set your goals based on Achievements you are willing to gun for. That's how I played after playing through the first time. After that, I shot for killing all the bad guys, etc...Sometimes you have to let the innocents die to achieve your points ;)

In a way the time constraint was annoying but i also liked it because you had to abide by the time. Was a nice touch but ya would be nice if you could play the game however you wanted and do all the quests in one pass.

In infinity mode are you able to do the side quests or do you just have to camp out for as long as you want?

You camp out and try and survive. The bad guys are all over the place instead of at certain times. For example, the molokov cocktail guy is outside the security room in the entrance plaza when you start, etc...

crazy, i bought this game not long ago and i cant seem to figure out how to properly play it, it seems that sometimes there are missions you just can not get to in time to complete them there are zombies everywhere, literaly, and thats what i like and hateabout the game i can never kill enough zombies to feel 100 percent satisfied, but at the same time if you really have to hurry somewhere, trying to get through a sea of zombies even when i find a weapon that i think kicks ass can still be next to impossible.

i wonder sometimes if i should just skip the sidequests altogether and just keep killing zombies, i mean thats what you do in the game and thats what i like about it the most, i mean there doesnt seem to be any type of significan penalty for skipping stuff, i have yet to see a game over screen for not saving somebody because i couldnt get to them or anything like that, yeah that sounds much better, i think thats how i'll play it from now on.

I did the "kill-600-zombies-in-the-beginning " glitch: thats how I truly enjoyed the game. It works really well and it wasn't very hard to do it at a low level.

well the thing about dead rising is that your not going to see everything in one play through most people like to try complete as much of a game as possible in one play through but with dead rising after the first time you probably wont even see half of the stuff in the game you have to beat it at least 3 or 4 times

Just ignore the cases. If it says: Cases expired just select continue. you don't have to do the case files. Exdplore if you want. You can do the story if you want on a later playthrough. This game was made to be played several times.

Yeah, is what im going to try to do later on. Get Zombie genocider, and do Scoops and take photos until the chopper shows up. Then Hopefully I'll have Mega Buster on my next play through. Not to mention quite a few levels up from the Zombie Genocide action.
