EA seems to be breaking off from their trends and sending a new Horror game our way. To be released on both the PS3 and Xbox 360 sometime in the fourth quater of 2008. Seemingly out of the blue they are trying a new approach to their gaming resume.

If you haven't heard about Dead Space, theres an article about it in Game Informer. Pretty much it's going to be like Silent Hill, set in space. It's a horror game, not a shooter game. In which you fight aliens who take over their enemies bodies (Flood anyone?) However, they say it's going to be no shooter, you'll spend alot of time looking for ways around the Necromorphs rather than actually fighting them. The whole idea is a scary game, not a shoot em up. If anyone else has heard of this game, I just wanted to know your opinons....

Links for Articles on Dead Space:

http://www.joystiq.com/2007/09/14/eas-dead-space-unveiled-by-game-informer/

Because the article was in Game Informer, there aren't many links containing the material it did. However if anyone has any links for it feel free to post them.

Is Dead Space a little of Halo and Silent Hill combined, knocking off both of them?
Or does it have potential of being a good start of a franchise worth playing?
Will Dead Space fall out because it's being made by play-it-safe EA, or will a new approach to games bring EA some lime light?

My opinion on it? I'm hopeing that Dead Space will bring a fresh game without taking some helpful ideas from any others. It looks like a game I will at least try the demo on if there is one. Maybe it will turn into an awesome franchise and bring EA some respect.

Its actually in a first person view, mostly the weapons you get are mining tools.DS is mostly a combination of The Thing,Alien (Ridley Scotts),RE,Silent Hill and The Abyss. So most likely Dead Space will be a Survival Horror game :P.

I wouldn't compare it to Halo at all, maybe like Silent Hill and Condemned or something. I think it could be a fresh start and EA has gained my love for them back lately, I'm so impressed with NHL 08 and Skate there unlike anything I've played and I never thought EA could be so original and good!

I was comparing it to Halo in the sense that...you are in space fighting Aliens that absorbed humans as their hosts. It is a horror-survival game, and I'm looking forward to it. I think it'll atleast get a 8.8 +. It's looking good and with some money behind it that EA can provide I have high hopes for it. I liked Silent Hill 2, though I don't get scared easily, I like games that keep me on the edge of my seat wondering wtf will happen next.

And it does look like EA is starting to break away from their Safe Zone and take chances.I think they'll take one more step into the right direction with Dead Space. Finally a game I'm looking forward to in 08.

Sounded interesting... until I found out it was in space. Seems whenever a game like this is set in space, the whole experience is ruined. Maybe I just hate the setting or maybe aliens just aren't scary. Or maybe the combination has been used to death.

A sci-fi/horror game? That does sound like System Shock.I doubt they're related, but I hope EA starts to work on System Shock 3 after the success of BioShock. Anyways, this game looks pretty good.
