the going is slow though, cause I'm playing on hard, and I refuse to play it unless I'm in a pitch black room. So I've just been waiting for nightfall since Wednesday....

Which leads me to the question: Is it actually scary (can't trust reviews!)? Looks like a darn awesome game.

It reminds me of Bioshock. I got really immersed into the world of rapture. i'm getting the same vibe on the Ishamura. Even if it doesn't scare people it really is a great action game.

The parts where you are running on the outside of the ship are just to damn awesome!

I was never the squirmish/scared type either, generally sitting through horror movies only to spot the "fakeness" within 'em. But the last thing my heart needs is a scary game, which will make it race 150+ BPM with the slightest thing (yes, my recent heart palpitations stink). I may have to wait until everyone's finished playing the game, and can give me a heads-up on the "Scariness Level.":?

same here. In movies your just watching. But in games your the guy trying to stay alive, your the one trying to get the hell out of danger. in games you feel much more immersed then in movies. atleast that how it is for me.

I don't see the point in a 15-20 hour single player, no online game anymore.
The only offline game I loved was Oblivion but that had way more playtime. What's the point after you beat this game? Playa harder difficulty. No thanks...

I was going to rent it as well, but I just ended up buying it today :) Only an hour or so into the game, but so far it's great!! Scary as hell. All the ambient noise effects get me so jumpy.

I'm just starting chapter 5. This is an awesome game, but not that scary. The sound does make it intense, but i haven't crap'd myself yet. This is a must buy.....even tho i rented it.jay051684

It's such an amazing game.

I'm not a wimp by any means when it comes to horror games (or even movies), but I've found myself screaming a bit at intense parts in the game.

It's fantastic. I'm so in love with this game.

I would buy it but I wouldn't be able to enjoy it, I'm a sissy with survival horror. Like I pointed out in another thread, I had to mute my PC and put all the lights on to beat F.E.A.R. the first time through. The second time through I made my girlfriend watch.

At the end I might just rent it to see how many enemies I can kill before having a heart attack on the floor.

Another aspect that added to the F.E.A.R. scariness (at least for me) was the fact that the enemies were near impossible to kill, it took like 4 or 5 headshots to take down guys late in the game. How hard is combat in Dead Space?

I'll rent it whenever I find time because I believe its a must play game instead.

Im going to play through this game twice for sure. !st try on medium and the second time will be on the insane mode you unlock!

15-20 hours is short?

People are getting so greedy with games now-a-days. Almost everything is always "too short" because it doesn't have multiplayer. Whatever happen to enjoying a good story and amazing gameplay once and awhile? Just because I game doesn't have multiplayer or isn't over 40 hours long a lot of people don't want to buy it.

Instead of buying every generic First/Third person because it has multiplayer doesn't make much sense. I havn't played a great multiplayer game since Gears of War.
