So which do you think looks better?
Both look so good, and so different.

FC2..i'll play Dead Space eventually but the space marine (call it space miner, it's the same thing) concept is a little played out for me.Roland1987

Only the Plasma Cutter is really his tool. Although Ive only used that, Plasma Rifle, and the Flamethrower.Wow, I can't believe how many people are so hung up on Dead Space. I learned my lesson from Bioshock. Just because it's a great story/atmosphere, doesn't make up for the fact that when you're done...you're done. I'll definately rent it, but can't bring myself to buy. Far Cry, according to the developers, has triple the amount of play-time (on single-player alone, not to mention multiplayer).Schumach5
Yeah Far cry 2 looks like to will have much more reaplayability.

Were you a gamer when single player was the only and most important part of a gaming experience? Some of the greatest classics that people collect to have in their collections come from the NES/SNES/N64 era. The reality is that every game will wear out its welcome, even with the addition of co-op and multiplayer, so you have to pick a fabulous quality experience, or simply go for something else based on the quantity, which is a poor decision, imho, because many times the modes aren't as good as they could've been, since they were pressed for time to finish them all up.
Both games are good enough to be purchased. I'm currently enjoying Dead Space now & will pick my copy of Far Cry 2 up from Gamestop Tuesday. However, if you aren't able to buy both then Far Cry 2 is most definitely the better purchase.shawn7324
FC2 drops on Tuesday at Gamestop? It says it's shipping on Tuesday.

Yeah I seen that as well, however I called them & they said it will be available Tuesday for pick up when they open.

Awesome! Thanks for the heads up. I did notice that Target and TRU have it listed for the 21st, so I was wondering. I didn't want to have to make 2 trips for Fable 2 and Far Cry 2, so this is good news. :D

Personally I enjoy sitting down and playing a single player game more than mulit player game some times more because I remember when the only time you had a MP mode is when you had your brothers or friends over and you sat in your room playing Street fighter 2 on the SNES till you had to go to bed or your mate was picked up to go home. MP is good dont get me wrong however some games like Bishock, Dead Space Resident Evil 2, Silent Hill ect ect are far better because they offer something different than 12 year old kids screaming down your head set "Dont veto this map" on Halo 3.
Dont get me wrong everyone I love multi player games, they are fun and I met some good people playing Gears online but sometimes there are moments where you want to sit down and enjoy some alone time with yourself and a game

Yes, yes I was. If games were the same price as they were back in the time of those classics, we wouldn't be having this discussion in the first place. Money is the issue. If, as you say, all games wear out their welcome...wouldn't it be best to rent the ones with the least amount of playtime? Buying the game does not give the player a higher quality experience. If the discussion is whether or not to buy, I'd certainly cast the vote towards the game with more bang for the buck and rent the lesser of the two. Same experience, wise financial decision.

Thats a concern for me as well...I wasn't as impressed by Bioshock as the rest of the gaming world. Sure it had atmosphere (which they did an amazing job on) but the overall experienced lacked for me. Im still on the fence about Dead Space...even with everyone saying its incredible.
Yeah, if Far Cry 2 gets good scores i will deffinetley pick it up, along with Dead Space, and Fable 2 ( of course)As you have said they both look brill but i think far cry 2 will be slightly ahead.
However i am contemplating getting both this friday!?- if i do i just hope that i don't see either of them in the sale in a few weeks like viva 2, too human and mercs 2!!

neither untill i get a demo.. or i'll buy whatever one has a demo (if i enjoy it)
pretty much with all these great looking titles out, and coming out soon, i'll only be buying the one that does a demo i like. (i'm betting not many will do demo's, as they all think they don't need one, but they lose a sale here if so)

There wont be a demo for Far Cry 2, it's already been comfirmed. Not sure about Dead Space, but hopefully there will be one soon.
