And by this I mean Xbox 720 game. I am slightly disappointed by how most current gen games look. Don't get me wrong, the graphics are gorgeous but the details like shrubbery and pysics on things like grass usually aren't. Trees are usually flat, low poly models. A developer like EA (who could afford it) should start developing a game planned to be release on the next generation of consoles. They would have enough time to make sure everything in the game was gorgeous and it would give them time to develop great AI, make many more things interactive, have great voice acting etc. It would give the developers time to make everything interactive and beautiful, something they dont have time to do in games currently being developed.

There currently isnt an engine that's been built for the "Next next gen".

You can't just throw money at on a new console and hope for th best, Especially since no one knows the next gen specs.

It would also be massively expensive to do. Developing for tech that is so far away is nearly impossible.

Everyone else already seems to understand why what you said is impossible.

1. The technology hasn't even been created yet. You can't create a game to run on hardware that hasn't even been developed yet.

2. EA is a publishing company. They don't even make games. They give the developers the money to make the game and then stick their name on it because they financed it.

Sk8ter, please tell me, where do you get your weed? Seriously, I mixed together some dumbo, dark hawk, and tokyo deep**** and I still can't be as high as you. 720 games on a 360? You're smart...

maybe you should think/do research before you post.Atm the ps3 engine wont be used to its full power tell almost the end of its lifetime, not even next gen games will have increased power over the ps3,the 360 cores which i believe are 3 or 4 (while the ps3 has 6 cores)the majority of the games that are being made are running on only half or less of the 360 cores.AI can get better but first you need to know how hard it is to program realistic AI,you can do it with maybe a few characters but with a huge open world where your talking or fighting against a few dozen NPC's, its atm impossible to do them one at a time and not mess up or you can take your time and have the game ready in like 5-6 years if not more which would cost way to much.

To the original poster - REALLY it sounds like you would be better suited for the HardCore PC gaming market. Hardware goes next gen and gets upgraded about every 6 months using a PC (if you're serious about gaming it's every 6 months anyway). This is still the platform of choice for the Uber-Gamer for these reasons. You can upgrade your graphics card every 6 to 9 months as the next gen in graphics is just around the corner. You can upgrade your CPU - well yeah just about every couple of weeks if you feel the need. You can upgrade your RAM every 3 to 4 months as that's how long it takes for a new speed or generation to come out. You can even get physics cards and start upgrading those. Then there's all the tweaking (OCing, WaterCooling, etc...) that you can do to improve performance even further than the manufacturers planned.

Like I said - what you are desiring in a gaming platform already exists - it's the PC. The cost for a hardcore PC gaming addict? Well I am one - so I can tell you. You will be looking between $2,000 and $4,000 a year depending on just how aggresive you are with your upgrading. In fact if you're spending less than $1000 a year on upgrades then you're not really serious about staying on the cutting edge.

The point is it's up to you whether you want to always be on the cutting edge of gaming in terms of Graphics, AI and Physics...

But IT WILL COST YOU.

:)

Yeah - LOL.

Hence the tone of that line - "You can "even" buy Physics cards..."

I do have a couple of friends who have gotten them - they insist on their improvement. I'm not totally convinced - but we'll see.

:) LOL

High_Spy

You are clearly not high right now, then. I never said 720 games on 360.....I don't know where you got that from. I was talking about starting work on a next gen game, hence not 360. Maybe you should get some of your "dumbo" before you respond to a post if it "makes you smarter"

And Knubbz....you need to do some research because EA develops game as well as publishing them. Ever heard of Army of Two for example.

AND YES, developers can start work on a next gen console even if the hardware isnt developed yet. They can start designing, writing the story, drawing up concept art etc. But thats not all. They CAN start to develop the game. They use predicted specs of next gen hardware and try to match that as closely as possible...then when the hardware is announced they tweak the game to fit the hardware exactly. Hmmmm ever heard of Dark Sector? A game could be started on 360 (with the intent of moving it to 720 in the future) and later fitted to the next gen console.

You people need to learn some damn facts before you run your mouths

Knubbz360

your comment was dumb ea is a plubisher and they do make there own games. ea owns most of the studios that make the games for them just becasue ea's name is not on the tibouron doors in florida does not mean that the company isnt owned by ea. valve is the only cureent company that i can think of that ea puts games out for that they them selves do not own.

as for this hole thread comming from a game dev myself this is retarted yes you can plan to start a game to ship in 2011 or 2012 on pc and hope the tech cetches up. how ever on consoles we dont know whos going to surive this console war now. the ps3 could end up like the dreamcast for all we know. But I am sure there is someone out there thats starting to look into the next gen of game engines. allthough i know for sure unreal 4 isnt even being worked on untill late next year at the earliest. valve might be doing something internal maybe source two? as far as ballrompirate goes hes right about the ps3 and not seeing full power untill the end of its life. you want to know why its freaking hard to write code for. it has one cpu and 8 treads the 360 has 3 cpus and 2 cores each6 threads total. I can not remeber how i was told but the way the threads are setup 2 or 3 of them are always goign to be idle. most code is read from the top to down but with the ps3 they want all the code to be read from left to right all at the same time and right now its hard for coders to get that to be effecient while wrighting code for 360 is just like the pc and anything else they have ever done. also the 360 has more memory for textures and so on. people are constanly running out of memory on the ps3 vs the 360. blu ray might have more space on disk but who cares when theres only 256 megs of ram in the first place. they should have went with 512 like the xbox. on the bright side ken kurtigi from sony who got fired had the specs done allready for ps4 and 5 before the ps3 fell on its face.is allmost not fair microsoft owning the pc market and then being able to take what everyone knows andputting it into a console thatis a pc in a smaller box not fair but good play on there part

Goto pc gaming. Sounds like youre looking for Crysis. But anyways you have to give the 360 some time. Amazing "next gen" games never come out with the first year or 2. Oblivion and gears were only the beginning.

I don't really know what Next Gen means. Some people say next gen is good graphics, some saythat is gameplay, and some say its the sound.I am an Xbox owner and I personally I think the Wii is next gen because of it's gameplay. I just bougth the Xbox because the wiidid not have to manyhardcore games for my taste(played Zelda Tp on the GC) and the Xbox had GoW, Oblivion, Forza, Rainbow 6 vegasetc etc etc... In my opinion you will neverbe satistfied with the graphics because you look to much in the small details.I guess you should stick to skating (BMX is better in my opinion:D)
