Well, I never played DMC so I would have to say Ninja Gaiden 2 for now cuz I liked the first one. I'll be getting both though once I get my 360 fixed. I'm starting to get really tired of all these FPS games and if NG2 is anything like the first one then I'll be happy.
Can tell a lot of the posters didn't play DMC 3 (non special edition) -- it was just as hard as NG and had an actual story. Team Ninja isn't really known for story telling but they have better characters. DMC 3 also had an insane death penalty and there wasn't an easy setting like NG and NGB so bad kids got stuck playing God of War.
The one caution about Ninja Gaiden 2 though is *Spoilers* you will have to wait until it's released for the third time on the PS 3 as Ninja Gaiden 2 Sigma - in order to play the whole game!
Personally, I think DMC 4 will surprise a lot of people new to the series (most of my RL NG addicted friends have never played DMC), and if anything I'm a Team Ninja Fan boy - I have always played the Dead or Alive series way to much!
Ninja gaiden has better moves, graphics, gameplay and it is actually very difficult
DMC has a nice story i guess but apart from that Ninja Gaiden owns it

Guess you have a time portal and have played both games well before release? Most of us sane people will leave our judgement until both games are released.Even then I don't care I am getting both and will enjoy them for what they are......games I enjoy...for better or for worse...it's just a game...if I choose to play it then I will judge it...as I see fit...bashing games before release is....LAME.Saying a game is better than another before release is even LAMER.Just play and enjoy...don't like?...Then don't play...simple...and don't get in your time portal and stop me from posting this.
If I had to choose I'd say DMC 4 because I'm sucked into the story to the point where I must know what happens next and I'm almost in love with the characters, BUT...ninja gaiden 2 is hands down going to own dmc4 in the gameplay/fighting aspect.
Still DMC4 =)
I love how Xbox owners always praise Ninja Gaiden but then if you look at reviews for DMC3 a lot of them say its the best game in its genre ever made.Ket87its typical for lemmings to boast about their exclusives even if it's not better than the competition
after playing NG2 for a few hours i was like "I MISS DANTE" and basically talked my friends ear off about all the cool sh*t ive done in the past with him. Then i played the DMC4 demo.. i did not approve of it.. at first. i was like "whos this dude and where the hell is ebony and ivory?" but i got a copy of it anyway as i love the DMC series. I LOVE DMC4. its on par with DMC 1&3.. NG2 has alot of awesome moments, but Ryo (if thats his name, i should know i played doa too damn much lol) is an empty shell of a character.. he has the personality of a rock judging from what i played so far.. thank god he kicks ass or else he would be completely worthless. basically let me tell u my favorite aspects from both and you decide what you would get.
NG2: Weapons are amazing, instant kills on the limbless is a plus, gameplay is quick and bloody, combat on water is pretty sick, some ninja moves are undeniably SICK..
DMC4: Great story, amazing action, beautiful graphics, insanely fun boss battles, pulling foes into the air slicing them up higher and pulling them back only to slam them down is pretty insane..
basically as u can see the game thats held my attention for the longest time was DMC4.. its better but not THAT much better.
if u never played DMC and you love NG and you say DMC sucks, you're an idiot, as basically any sick action game you play in the same vein originated with DMC. i would even go as far as saying NG is a DMC ripoff with ninjas. albeit a good ripoff.
also if you've never played a DMC, its a must play game. Same with NG.

I completely agree with you here. DMC in it's own rights delivers the best of the best in action gaming. I would even say DMC 3 and NG are together the best action games ever to have seen daylight in 3D history.

This on the other hand is ridiculous. The fact that the 3D version of Ninja Gaiden was released after DMC ok. But the franchise, the idea and the superb action of the series is now in it's 21st year. DMC is now 8 years old, so naming NG a rip off is damn near insult to one of the greatest, oldest and most difficult action series ever to have seen the daylight. In return I would go as far as saying that good and difficult action games are the trademark that NG has established!
Back on the subject though, NG 2 was better imho in difficulty, action, GORE (ARMS + LEGS + DECAPITATION = AWESOMENESS on a brand new level) and the tempo is incredibly fast making the action even more enjoyable. Especially on higher difficulties. More importantly the greatness comes with the replay value, you will WANT to be one of the few people to be able to master path of the master ninja!
On the other hand I loved DMC 4 in it's own way. The beautiful graphics, the superior story to NG and the diffrent characters all make this a great game. But the puzzles and the rerun through the levels (extremely cheesy!) made the replay value exceedingly smaller. Plus the low weapon arsenal really was a downer.
Ninja Gaiden II contain far more "cheap death" then DMC but its the better game.
...also lol at the 2 years necroing D:
