Yep, there have been many topics about this. 12 hours straight on the Xbox is insane, although I spend barely 2 hours on the Xbox, it has been bugging me.

bit from reading the article is wasn't the actually gaming that killed him... wasn't it the fact he sat down for too long not eating and concentrating on the television... this could happen from just watching TV couldn't it?

Already a topic on this. Sitting there for hours on end killed him. Not his xbox.

Yeah, it could happen to anyone who was sitting in the same place for long periods of time. Whatever the case may be, I don't want to exactly die from sitting on my *** all day. Although I don't spend 12 hours sitting in one place, I do spend a lot of time on the computer.

I agree. Though it sounds like this guy did nothing but play xbox. So would sit in the same position for hours eveyday.

Doing ANYTHING for 12 hours straight can be detrimental to your health, every year people collapse/die participating in marathon's, triathlon's and ironman events...

All articles like this do is help to perpetuate that gaming is bad. Moderation and variety are the keys to a healthy and happy life.

12 hours? And he died from that? I've sessions a lot longer than that.

Also, I love when journalists mess up. "Dies after playing too much Halo 4."

HE did not die because he played to much xbox... Your sounding like fox news... He died because he sat on his butt to long without getting up... and in the weirdest way he got a blood colt from it

I sounds like he wasn't an active person. If he wasn't playing his console, he was probably doing other things where he was just sitting still. Other aspects of his life will be as much to blame as his Xbox. Of course, The Sun, being the scaremongering POS that it is, decides to spin the story into a way that scares parents about their children playing games. I don't think they realise that most people who buy their paper will be adults who grew up playing the NES and SNES and will know they're talking out their arse.

yeah but what about people who sit on planes for 12hours? they dont die... I think its because when you play games your brain is constantly concentrating... 12hrs of concentration on one thing cant be good for your brain..

Blood clots can form whether you move around or not, it just depends how your body handles them. Blood clots can form inside the body but regularily they are removed quite easily. This could happen to anyone even the most active of people, but if one seriously has a problem with blood clots they should look into some Anti-Coagulants such as Warfaren or Heparin.

Well id go as far to say that videogames stimulate the brain, and for brain activity are good. If your playin g a video game your focusing on all aspect of the game not one specific detail in the game.

Nooooope. Has nothing to do with the Xbox, it has to do with sitting around on your ass for too long.

honestly i dont see how anyone could sit in the same position for that long. i play video games for hours on end, but i have to move after like 30 minutes. i usually change my seat(move to a different place to sit) like 20-30 times in about 3 hours:P

im not sure how people can sit still that long.

I am a 48 year old crane operator. There are certain jobs where I and others cannot leave the controls of the crane for periods that long or longer. Yet no-one I have known or worked with in my career field has ever died from such a problem. Many operators are in their 50s and 60s and yet it almost never happens. There were definitely other factors involved that are related to his medical history.(probably things like poor diet, lack of exercise, genetic predisposition, etc.) No doubt about it.
