I played it...
And I'm gonna be honest... I wasn't to impressed.

The only thing I thought could have been improved was the random planets you landed on. They were often boring.
That's something that I hope they fix in part 2. I understand that most planets are barren wastelands, but the ones with life should atleast have trees and grass. And I'm hoping that more of the Citadel will be open to exploration as well...The only thing I thought could have been improved was the random planets you landed on. They were often boring.

I won't lie, it took me a few months to actually get into it. The first planet your mission takes place on was boring to me and I just couldn't get into it. But when I finally played it for a few hours, I couldn't stop. It's one of the greatest games I've ever played :P
Well, if you started ME1, it might be worth it to finish it so that your character and your decisions will carry over to the second game.I'm looking forward to ME2, but didnt finished ME1, so i'm gonna skip it and go thru the second. :P

My only complaint is the exploration. Every planet felt no different than the other, in terms of exploring doing side missions. The game had amazing characters, a great story, the combat felt a little out of place but I'm sure it's much more improved and fluid in the 2nd.
I remember getting lost alot, cursing the innefective map and waypoints, and dying immediatly during most battles. And then somehow it all clicked when i got the Normandy and Mako... I had a blast exploring the different planets, and couldnt imagine going through the game without Jen Hale voiceing the main character i made.Witchsight
It's brutal to play Fem Shep first and then try to play Male Shep. A total thrashing of your spirit and energy, I say.
To address the TC, sure, lots of folks couldn't get past the minor technical problems or felt the story was derivative or didn't enjoy the gameplay. Personally, I thought it was the best game released this gen.
i did not like it at first but by the end i was loving it and wanting more
Same here. Bad first impression but I warmed up to it when I gave it a second shot. yah i played it when it first came out did not like it to much then i tried it lately to beat it befor the 2nd you comes out because it lookes so much better and after about 4 hours i started loving it and was glad i stuck with it and finished itI see what you did thar. Anyway I loved the game and can't wait for the next one. Bioware just keeps on delivering so I'm positive Mass Effect 2 will be an excellent game.I did not not like Mass Effect.

Yeah I though something was wrong with my disc then I read that it is normal...WTF?Mass Effect is a great game. The only beefs I had with it were the drops in framerate and the texture fill-ins.

I loved it. All the conversing and universe studying stuff was great, and I love the cinematic feel to it.
Really was put off by the driving side quests, and the lameness of them, and got annoyed with the inventory screen a lot, but overall its definitely one of my favorite game experiences.
I thought the combat was terrible and couldn't get into the story. I stopped playing after a few hours.KC_Hokie
How could you not like the story? It's easily one of the best and well written stories this gen. I can understand not liking the combat, but I can't possibly imagine how you didn't like the story. How far did you get in the game?
Game play was boring. Fails as a shooter and rpg.

How exactly does it fail as an rpg?
