All the mumbo jumbo with used games and drm.
After 10 years of being an xbox live member, I have decided to go with the playstation 4 going forward. I want a game machine not the cable xbox box.
Has it changed your view for the better or worse?

I'm still on the fence but I'm not ready to anoint sony either.
Not really. I am glad that Microsoft is finally announcing these policies to put some rumors to rest. I am not too happy about the daily check for an internet connection, but I don't see it as a deal breaker. For me, lending games out is not an issue as I do not give out games often, if at all.
Leaving second-hand fees up to the publishers seems a bit sketchy though. I want to believe that some publishers will want to maintain some goodwill with consumers, but I wouldn't be surprisd if they do charge a fee. That being said, publishers ARE losing money on used sales, so I can understand why they would want to get some money for the sale of a used game.
The issue of privacy with Kinect has also been explained, describing that many of the features for the unit CAN be turned off. It does raise the question of why Kinect 2.0 has to be plugged in if the functions of the unit can be disabled. However, I don't mind Kinect much now (voice search can be pretty handy) so I'll probably leave it on anyways.
So, with that being said, I am still looking forward to the Xbox One. E3 is right around the corner and I'm hoping MS can deliver, hopefully with no concerts from Usher this time. Also, if my financial situation is sorted out, I want to get the One and the PS4. No reason not to have both if I'm able to do so.
Don't count on microsoft having a good e3. They have had bad e3 for years. I think the last good one was the gta 4 reveal years ago.Not really. This. Sony has been pretty silent on the whole used games issue, I wouldn't be at all surprised if they had similar policies in place. Hell, at this point I'd be more surprised if they didn't actually follow the same path as Microsoft.
I might try and just get PS4/Wii U this time again, since I should try and save my money for other things. Instead of getting all three systems. So guess my opinion really hasn't much changed. Guess have to hope Fable IV is on PC, and get on PC whenever I eventually switch to it.
nope. still everything i didn't want to hear and nothing i did want to hear. microsoft just lost a long time paying customer (me). i'm buying a ps4 instead. /iwontputupwiththatBSAll the mumbo jumbo with used games and drm.

No. I already expected this. It'll be the new standard for console gaming, most likely. DRM is alive and will not be going away any time soon.
I should have the right to do what I want with the items I have purchased. I own that right and won't allow it to be taken from me.
I'd understand it if it was all digital, but hell no if I buy a physical game copy.
i thought you meant this: http://www.nytimes.com/2013/06/07/us/nsa-verizon-calls.html?hp&_r=0
Microsoft is included in the Prism project, and X1 requires to have Kinect connected... i didn't think those spying beliefs had much basis, but now i do.
I'm with a different opinion here ..as I'm good with the Xbox and enjoying its game playing still from 5 years in a row.. a jump to PlayStation is on hold for some more duration..

I don't see big deal. Steam needs to log in to online. Once I buy game I can't resale. It seems over blown to me AutoPilotOn
Steam doesn't need to be online, after you have downloaded the game. unless ofcourse you are playing an online game...
It just looks like Microsoft is saying "So what if our syetems looks bad & people are in an uproar. I gurantee you those same people will reserve or camp out for our system day One. Hahahaha! Pass the advanced one-hunderd million dollar check we will earn from these fools & some vaviar." Honestly, Microsoft knows that people will still buy it & obviously doesn't care about the gamers like they did before. The Xbox One is a cable box that plays games & is more aimed towards hardcore TV & sports watchers than it is to gamers. This is just my opinion.

Don't forget that a digital copy is usually much cheaper than the physical. If I'm going through the effort of visiting my local EB or JB and paying full price at release ($80 or $90 AUD), I should have the right to sell and lend out my game to whoever I want. This new 1 transfer policy is bullcrap. The game license effectively dies after 2 users. I will not participate in this gen, and I have avoided any PC game that required online authentication. The last DRM game I bought was Starcraft 2 and I vowed never to buy another game that forces me to ask for permission as to whether or not I'm allowed to play!!! I went to the shop and paid full price for the disk, not a discounted digital download. If XBOX One games were priced like discounted Steam games ($20-$40) I'd be ok with Microsoft's DRM. But I don't see that happening.i have to agree, games went to being owned by you, by you just renting the license and not even have full ownership over a game. This is bs. Kinect has to be on, you can only borrow it to one friend? I call bsHow the f*ck could anyone possibly defend this garbage or put up with it?

I'm still good on getting one. I don't sell back or trade my games. I buy all my games new. I don't attempt to download illegal games. I have a good internet connection. I don't lend out games. All that said I'm expecting very little of what was said to effect me at all. I would note that this is driven by the publishers and not MS so i'm sure they put the pressure on Sony to have the same restrictions. Will Sony bend to that, who knows so far but it wouldn't be crazy if they did. Also there would be less of a need for a lot of this crap if there wasn't so many pirates and dishonest people trying to cheat the system, so we should all thank them for pushing the future of gaming in this direction. I'm leaving out used game sellers and buyers because that's at least is legit and should be able to be done.
Again, most of it is not going to effect me so although I think we are becoming stupid as an industry... I can still deal with it for now.
Not really, it is a little shaky right now but the great thing that these are all software implementations which can be changed at anytime. Even if the console becomes so bad that i decide not to get it, i still wont buy a ps4 until a couple of years. I try and try so hard to be excited for any playstation product( hardware) but i just cant. Once again is the dam controller i can never get used to. Just yesterday i turned my ps3 on 4 times and each time there was something holding me back from playing. I sat and stared at the cross bar for 10 mins and then decided to turn it off. I have lots of games but i just cant build up the excitement to play it.All the mumbo jumbo with used games and drm.

They've been doing perfectly fine without all of this disgusting anti-consumer crap.
Very true. Just ask THQ.That makes you the most uninformed purchaser of all time. You don't own that ight, never did in terms of video games... You should take a gander at the EULA included with every physical copy of a game you "own". Hint before you read it: You own nothing. Digital or physical, when you buy a game you are buying a license to use that game. Purchasing a game for full price is just an extended rental from the company with no late fees. That hasn't changed in years. Buying it on disc offers no greater level of ownership, except to say you have a tangible copy of the game.I should have the right to do what I want with the items I have purchased. I own that right and won't allow it to be taken from me.

Yes, that might be the case, but at least this current gen I can still pass my games around whether by selling it on ebay or lending it to a friend WITHOUT having authenticate via a daily login. That's a big difference to the proposed model of XBOX One. Technically the EULA may by the same, but practically it's a complete overhaul and a change I don't agree with.I should have the right to do what I want with the items I have purchased. What was the cause then? Please explain.Owned a 360 for this gen, but fvck this shit.
Either buying a PS4 or ditching consoles for PC if Sony misses the open goal.
That's exactly me too, man. I'm still giving X1 a chance, but if the exclusives do not amaze me, I'm bailing. It sucks though. All those achievements; all those MPs. We'll have to restart all over again.Owned a 360 for this gen, but fvck this shit.

I try to look at this objectively.
I am already online 24 hours a day, but somehow i still find the online requirement offensive.
I dont have a lot of family or friends around me that play games, so none of the restrictions on games will affect me personally, but i still find all these online checks/verification's, restrictions, etc kind of irritating.
I hate Kinect in every sense of the word. I dont want to pay for xbox Live Gold. I dont have ( or want ) cable television or like the NFL, so i really dont want to pay for these features.
I like the controller, i am sure i would like some of the games.
But i think, in the end, i can get a better video game experience from other sources and i dont need a Xbox One.
I'm not dumb enough to make up my mind becfore I see the whole picture. I want to see what Sony is going to do, so far they are very tight lipped, and there is a reason. I could care less about the internet connection, used games, and if Kinect is used, GAMES is all that really matters in the end. The games that have been leaked for the Xbox One look way better than the announced games for the PS4.
