I know I'm known for bashing threads like this, but I'm panicking. I just turned off my xbox, but I realized that I actually needed it to stay down. I pressed the power button over and over, but it wouldn't come on so I thought I wasn't pressing it right because this happens often.

So I get into a better position, press it, and nothing happens. I look towards the back of the xbox and noticed a red glow. Its coming from the power brick.

What's happening.

Make sure your cable is plugged in all the way. And a question for you. how often do you not press the start button right? It's not insanely hard or anything.

Well, My Xbox is low, and I'm tall, so when I reach down I end up pressing on the top of the power button and it usually doesn't recognize it.

I actually only wanted to know what would cause this, I didn't go overboard and act as though the world is over like other posters.  I wanted to see if anyone else had to send theirs back for this.

What do you mean you told me.  I always slam people who say 360 breaking is just a myth.  My first 360 broke after 9 days.

of course every system will drop out eventually but even some of the launch consoles which are thought to be the worst of the xbox 360s are still working. i bet there are heaps of people whos 360s work fine but the only reason people think that 360s have a tottal defect is because five or six people say there 360 broke.

Any red light on an Xbox 360 is bad news. Action: begin to cry immediately!

I had the red ring of doom in Feb and only just got it back (Now end of April). So I cack myself at the sight of any red glow anywhere remotely near my 360. Had a fright the other night, come downstairs for water and noticed a red light in the vacinity of my 360. I immediately ran and turned on the light - turned out it was my standby light for my DVD player - Doh!

Why do you people never believe that 360 breaking exists.
