I wanted Dragon Age: Origins Collector's Edition and it seems to be a pre-order only edition and Gamestop now longer does any pre-orders for it.
The EA Store has the Xbox360, PS3, and the PC versions of the Collector's Editions still available. I went there and I was able to pre-order it and got free 3-4 day shipping too.

I thought about buying it until I read about the $7 DLC available at launch...so I might rent it at first.

I don't understand why that that would deter you.

Yea well I could, but Amazon doesn't have it for pre-order anymore.

Also I am not a EA hater like you and others.

DLC that you have to pay for on launch day is virtually unprecedented. It's like Bioware is making up for the lack of DLC for Mass Effect by releasing three pieces just at launch for Dragon Age.

Yeah but you get all that free if you buy a new copy. So why would you rent it?

Nope...the $7 DLC isn't free. The other two are.

That does sorta blow. So you would rent and wait till the price on DLC goes down?

I'm going to rent at first and see how many DLC come out and how quickly. If $75+ of DLC comes out in like the first 6 months after release I'll wait for the gold/goty edition.

How long does it usually take for a Gold/Platinum/GOTY edition to come out after the game does?

A year or so, but you'll be able to judge how much DLC EA will force Bioware to make in the first few months after it comes out. It already will have three pieces of DLC on launch day and one is $7.

Correct me if I'm wrong but doesn't that mean you won't have the code for Mass Effect 2's armor?

Pretty sure the armor is free whenever you buy the game. I bet you get it for free when you buy Mass Effect 2 as well.

I don't buy collector editions. I expect Dragon Age Origins to still be worth it even without buying DLC on day 1, however I'm getting it for PC.

I pre-ordered the day before they said they stopped offering them. I lucked out big time. Too bad you couldn't get it.

Could you please READ what the DLC is before you post again?

All you've been doing is posting misinformation over and over and over

The DLC is FREE (that means no charge) in the Collector's Edition, it comes in the package for FREE

For people who buy the regular version they can purchase the extra content that's in the Collector's Edition as DLC

Bioware should be PRAISED for this, they're allowing everyone to get the content launch day

10 dollars back

Free in game content

4 dollars off

No tax

So how does it not make sense?

i think you should learn the facts.. The Warden's Keep~~(PH:3) "it is not included with the regular or Collector's Edition of Dragon Age: Origins, although it is included in the Deluxe Digital Edition offered by online retailers." The Stone Prisoner~~ (PH:4) "The Stone Prisoner, which is free to anyone who has preordered or buys any edition of Dragon Age new" Blood Armor~~ (PH:6) "which is also included at no cost with new copies of the game" "it will also be wearable in Mass Effect 2, due out early next year. If the DLC is that important to you there is a version to get it for FREE, you just said it right in your post

You're making it sound like they're adding DLC before the game is out and that's not the case

The XBOX/PS3/Retail PC versions get tangible extras. To make sure that everyone gets their money's worth that last piece is FREE for anyone who gets it digitally

Then to not make any other user feel left out they offer that same DLC content for everyone playing the game no matter what version they have.

Again, they should be praised for their efforts with this and not make it an exclusive to one certain version
