HDMI cable is without question a better way of connecting. Its just the input... The main difference between component and HDMI, is that HDMI runs through one input and is generally a faster digital transmission. Component runs through a series of different inputs, (for sound, picture, relay) HDMI encodes it into TMDS which is what component doesn't do. To the naked eye, you will notice VERY little difference between component and HDMI connections. Unless you have an uber fantastic TV, everything will still look fantastic running through 720p with component cable. It really depends on your TV. If you want to run something through 1080p and you have an awesome HD TV... I'd go for HDMI. (Personally, I'm not going to buy the elite for a slightly better and sharper image). And I only have 1 HDMI on my TV, and thats running my ps3 so lol! But the main difference is that HDMI only uses one input, and unless your running in 1080p you will notice very little difference between the two.

I find that HDMI is a huge difference in clarity, sharpness, color, etc.

VGA sucks. The only good thing vga has, is that the pictures look smoother and it supports 1080p. VGA also has a very limited setting and pale colours which is a bad thing. Component can be sharper, have better contrast, sharper colors... depends on how u set it.

I agree 100%, I bought a VGA cable last week and took it back, the picture was waaaaay to pale compared to the component cables.
