If heavy graphical games on the 360 take up a lot of space on the DVD then why don't makers of the games come out with 2 discs for every game, so theres one disk for the single player campaign and the other disk for the multiplayer/Xbox Live.

so theres a fleshed out full single player storymode and also a mutliplayer that has depth. and they won't have the cram all the space in one disk and shorten the singleplayer

so is this a good idea or a dumb one?

Thers a couple of reasons for that

Two disks would mean many would have to get up and change disks to go from online to offline, this is a HUGE hassle and even I would not want to go though it. Small thing yes but makes a big difference

Also the price of games would go up because they are burning another DVD for us. .

Thats why they dont do that

cost. thats what it comes down to really. not only the cost of making 2 discs per game, but the cost of making, as u put it, a fully fleshed out SP and MP game.

SP games are shorter not because of the disc, but because of cost and marketing departments say that ppl want shorter games. so devs make shorter games.

Seems like a great Idea. When I first play a nextgen game I instantly said "boy I got my moneys worth". I feel like that after playing almost every title on the nextgen consoles. Now...if the would put more into the games...then I would think they would ask for more money. They are putting even more into the games, so they would have to ask for more money. Thats why I dont ever think that they will use the full power of the PS3...why? If they do or they dont it will cost 60 bucks. So why do more and "just" get 60 bucks, when they can do the norm and get it anyway. IDK. Your idea makes perfect sense to me. Not from a business point of view though.

ok i agree with what you all are saying on a business perspective, but if i was a CEO of a new game company or w/e and had the money to do so even though i would be loosing some money out of the total profits originally but i would be making more in the long run because you would be getting more bang and quality for your buck, so any smart consumer would pick my game over someone with a shorter exprience

so in the longrun I may be loosing more money from jump but at the end i would make more money, if my logic isn't wrong

also 2 dvds shouldn't cost that much on top of that

was 4 Discs and i believe it still cost $60 from launch

so in short i think it would be doable and a smart thing to do for some small time company that is trying to become a big name to focus all their attention in one game get a full fleshed game out for example a single player with oblivion quality and a mutiplayer with Gears or COD4 quality

Games don't have short SP and in Depth MP because of lack of space. It a developer choice. Not always for the worse either, CoD 4 was really short, but great anyway.

Also the price of games would go up because they are burning another DVD for us. .

I understand the thought process that led you to say this, but it doesn't really make sense if you look at it. You don't pay 60$ for the disk, you pay 60$ for the game that's on it. An example of this would be Lost Oddysey. That game had 4 disks and i didn't pay 240$ for that.

Right. You didnt pay the $240.oo for it, but for them to make the game COMPLETE...they needed that amount of disc. Your paying $60 bucks for a complete game. IMO...most of the companies who create the game COULD make the graphics and stuff better, but they have to sacrafice because of SPACE. Say for instance, the Map Pack for COD4....a few of those maps were maps that they stated "didnt make the release date". They did work on a few of them, but when they gave it out.....It cost. It wasnt free. It was data, they still have to pay people for working on it. Disc are one thing, but when you add more, you have to add/pay more employees.
