i replaced my pro with an elite last December and occasionally the disk drive would make a grinding noises on startup and when disks are idle, looking on forums here and there i heard that benq drives are known to make these noises (I'm using a benq drive) but more recently I've been getting the noise more often, particularly in games where the disk speed slows down at parts ilike gears and cod 4. Im also starting to notice small scatches here and there on some of my games.
So I'm asking, should i be worried by this noise and get it replaced (even though where this close to gta 4 launch) or is this not a problem?
do me a favor next time you hear the noises press down on the disk drive (chrome part) and tell me if the noises stop. because this sounds like my xbox 360. i think its just the tray that isn't completly closed so just pressing on it should stop the noise. at least thats what worked for me. it reoccurs ever so often but i just press on it then it stops. so its no big deal
Do you have your system standing up or on its side? I have had games get scratched while it was standing up and have not had a problem since I sat it on its side.
well i use to have it vertically but i changed it to horizontal a couple months back because of the noise, but although it doesnt grind as much i still get in certain games.
