Why should developers work hard after a game has gone gold for free?Haphillibecause we paid $60 for it and they want us to buy the sequel for $60 too?
anyways it's microsoft that makes us pay for DLC. Awhile back epic wanted to release the gears maps for free but MS wouldnt let them
why should we have to play for DLC it should be free. we payed 60 bucks for the game that should be enough.sour-cream
I somewhat agree - you have to think about it though that the companies are working further on the games - then they should get more money for their work. You could argue however that whatever they are adding later should have been there from the start. Some of the DLC prices are done because MS wants to charge prices - not the developer. It's not a black/white issue to me I guess. But obviously from a buyer's stand point - free DLC is best.

I disagree. If developers weren't making any money from this, it wouldn't make any sense for them to make DLC. If the only DLC we got was free DLC, we would see a dramatic decrease in the quanity and quality of it.
micro$oft should pay the dev's for it. (it's their games that are keeping us paying for live)
we pay a fee to play online, and then they charge us more for every POS thing on live. it's quite BS.
it should be online is free, and you pay for everything else. or you pay for online, and they throw in some other nice features for free. but with good ole M$, it's you pay for this, and you pay for that.
it's a joke they charge for everything (that's why i've never bought anything on live, and i think most people are foolish to.)
the upcoming cod4 maps may be the first thing i've (reluctantly) bought on live.
Hate Micro$oft, Love 360 :|
Production costs are rising fast because of the high demands for video games. And the standards are so high for games that devs really have to push the envelope. What use to only take about 20 people to make a video game, now takes 200 or more. That's why games went from $49.99 to $59.99. What's worst is, the economy is not doing well for the past few years and it's declining. So I dont blame them at all for wanting a few bucks that's worthy of DLC such as maps and bonus missions. If you ask me, was $60 worth my adventure in Gears of War? Heck yeah. Was it worth it when I ran through the streets of Dasmacus(spell check) in Assassin's Creed? Hell yes. And my mission to save the entire galaxy (Mass Effect). Oh yes. So what's $60 or a few bucks for DLC to you? We're talking about people who make these awesome games, that we probably couldnt make in our lifetime. They were given a gift, and they're sharing it with the world. And all they ask is $50-60 a copy. Sometimes they're even cheaper if you find great deals. I say, support devs. Not so much the publishers, but Devs need the money so they can venture forth in new endeavors of gaming. They bring us breath-taking and revolutionary games. Need I say more? Thanks for reading.Elann2008
Agreed.

see and the devs. are making games now to make money i remember when they made the games the way they wanted and were like we the devs "trully" love this game and maybe the public will too. but now they make the games for the public and thats what they base every decision on. how much money will they loose/make. and thats why games dont have the mood that they use to.Please Log In to post.
