I used to have a PS2 but the PS3 looked like a steaming pile of $H!T so i got a 360. I have only ever played it at my cuz's house and i thought it was pretty good. Will I understand the story if I dont get 1 or 2.

Idk. It would help I guess, but you might be able to figure it out for yourself, too.

You won't understand it really well if you haven't played the first 2. You should get Halo 1 and 2, they are both really good games.

Definetly get them, you won't understand the story without them. If you like the story though, get the books.

if you like to read (or need something to read for school or something)  I suggest reading the novels.  You can get them bundled together for less than $20.  It has everything you need to know about Halo.  They aren't lame like most video game books, they're actually well done.

You most likely wouldn't understand the story that much. You're better off just playing and finishing Halo: Combat Evolved and Halo 2.

You can buy them new at stores for cheap. Check Target or Best Buy.

Nowhere. That's how you can tell if someone is a new gamer, they don't like games if there is no multiplayer.

Ah yes the good ol' days when it wasn't all about flashy online play but when stories actually made sense and sequels werent just rehash with added multiplayer modes.

Yeah, I don't have Live yet, so I haven't played multiplayer. I have to depend on single player for a game to be fun...

It honestly doesn't really matter. The Halo story was never really all that compelling to me.

You don't NEED to play them, but I'd advise that you do because they both kick ass and you'll appreciate Halo 3 better if you know the story.

Better be on the safe side, get Halo: Combat Evolved, Halo 2, Halo Graphic Novel, Halo: The Fall of Reach, Halo: The Flood, Halo: First Strike and Halo: Ghosts of Onyx. Oh, and I hear the figurines are essential if you want to understand the plot in its entirety.

You mean "they're", dude. If you read more, you would've caught that.

I didn't get Halo or Halo 2, will probably get Halo 3 and probably won't get the first two because I don't have the time to play them. Thus, I'll probably look up a couple of summaries on the internet shortly before I play. I'm brought up to speed and the problem is solved.

It's probably a good idea to get the halo 2 multiplayer map pack as well.
