Do MS Point Cards Work Across Countries? (Austrailia to Canada)

I've heard that UK LIVE codes won't work in US and Canada, but I proved that wrong today, so I'm wondering if someone from Austrailia was to send me a code for say 1200 microsoft points, would the code work? Has anyone had experience with it?

I already have a working account with LIVE on it and everything, I plan on keeping the Canadian account I'm using. I'm just wonderif the code was bought in Austrailia if it will work in North America. All the servers Aussies play on are US ones so it seems like it would, but I'm not sure, thats why Im asking. : /
