I remember back in the good ol days of CoD4, turtle beaches were pretty much like having an extra perk and gave you a one up on everyone else. They helped alot in WaW but in MW2, unless you were playing hardcore search, they were useless IMO.

Would you guys say they help in Blops? Cuz so far i dont think they do. Just my opinion. I have x1's btw (old school :p)

I actually thought they made a huge difference in MW2, but not so much in BO since the footstep noise seems to have been cut down substantially. Also, if you are going to use headphones, I highly recommend Tritton over Turtle Beach. I've had about 4 sets of Turtle Beaches break in one way or another, but the Trittons seems to be more reliable.

Not so much anymore with blackops because treyarch screwed up on the footsteps and sounds but they still make the game amazing, and between tritton and turtles i would say go with a higher level turtle beach. Ive had both turtles and trittons and both are very good. ive had every turtle beach headset out there and they all work amazing and none have broke. I would go wired.

Footsteps are actually louder in BO.

Not in my experience. They seem almost inaudible for enemies, and I am wearing full 5.1 headphones. Plus, my footsteps sound like my guy is skipping, so that doesn't help.

They don't have an impact on BO. They were much more useful in the past games.

Yeah, they help a little but you have to have the skill to go with it.

Those of you who are saying that the enemy footsteps in BO are as loud or louder than those in MW2 have either not played MW2 for a very long time or are regurgitating something you read without any actual knowledge. I've played 30 hours of MP on Black Ops so far, all of it with expensive, full Dolby Digital 5.1 headphones on, and I can say without a shadow of a doubt that the footsteps are NOWHERE near as loud as they are in MW2, especially when comparing the Ninja Pro perks. My character's footsteps are loud as hell, but that only serves to further drown out the sound of enemy footsteps. And why in God's name would I care about hearing my own footsteps, anyway? You can continue saying that the footsteps have been improved, but it is just outright incorrect and reflects a lack of time with the game. Please do us all a favor and actually PLAY a little before feeding us the company line.

no they are not. as of now, there is no point to ninja as nobody can hear you and even with ninja pro on, you won't be able to here anyone. treyarch did this on purpose because apparently having a gaming headset is considered "soundwhoring"

I guess by the same logic, playing on a 1080P screen is "graphics whoring" and gives an unfair advantage over those still on standard def. There will always be differences in levels of equipment between gamers, and it is not the devs job to try to balance that out as long as everyone has a fair shot at the outset. Treyarch, I love your game, but please don't attempt to make the equipment I spent a lot of money for useless.

I did a little bit of online this morning and it does seem like the footsteps have been improved now, although they still aren't as helpful as they were in MW2. Matchmaking has also been fixed as far as I can tell, so no more waiting for 20 min. to get your party into a game together. Also, the patch notes don't list any spawn modifacations, but out of the 10-12 games I played this morning it certainly seemed like the spawn points were a little more consistent and less irritating, though it could just be that I had some lucky games. Enjoy!!
