Well, the Xbox 360 does have "different" games but when you start talking about titles that are triple A that's different. Most recently Bioshock, Halo 3, and the Orange Box have been snagging the media and critics. Skate on the other hand has been a good game. Mostly, the game has gotten good reviews and over at IGN.com it received a 9.0. It's been awhile since I disagreed with a Gamespot review(I mean a long time; years). It received a 7.5 here(with a overall critic score of a 8.6).
Considering reviews alone the Xbox 360's main highlights recently have been FPS/shooter games. There's still more to come, and you can only hope for the best. But the Xbox 360 does have a lot of good games that do not score above a 9.0. But it's understandable! I mean; even though Mass Effect is a RPG it still fits with the most common sterotype for Microsoft's console even if it scores high(since the action elements have shooting elements). But let says if a game like Lost Odyssey scores a 9.0 here at Gamespot; people would then begin to see a versatile system(at least on these forums). Hell, even seeing a game like Ace Combat 6 score a AAA number would be great. So I think I understand where you're coming from. But I would like to make it clear again that the Xbox 360 does indeed have many different games. :D
its what it is. there some sterotype that americans love thier murder simulators...
if you look at the world map on halo 3 to see who is playing in the world the east coast US is lit up like a christmas tree.
off topic is anyone else amazed at that map like i am?
Has anyone else notice that the 360 has been really shooter heavy lately? Now dont take this as a bad thing...but i think it should be a lot more deverise ya know? Im a sony fanboy (That was until i notice the ps3 sucked noodles), and have switched over to the side of the X...but im really not as heavily into guns as most xbox players. I like good rpgs, I love beat'em ups, i think platformers (From time to time) are swell. It just seems like we are getting a lot of shooter games that mostly deal with us blasting aliens in the near future. Halo, quake, prey...the list goes on. I would like more games like DMC4 to come out...and maybe a good platformer, or even a martial arts epic. I just think the xbox should be more verstile then it is. I realize that the xbox does have games that arent shooters coming out...but it seems to be focused on the shooters and a lot of them seem to mimic off each other. What do you guys think?ryeinkazamoto
As a multiplatform gamer LAST gen (when it was affordable), I've been singing this song for over a year. The problem, as some have stated, is that the high-profile, big releases ARE shooters and not other games. Sure, others are mixed in some, but the most talented devs seem to be working on shooters, Shooters, SHOOTERS!
I've called for more AAA platformers in particular to attract a more well rounded fanbase AND appeal to gamers like myself who thrive on variety.
