I've heard from a few people on other forums that wired controllers are better for multiplayer games like Halo 3. Is there any truth to this, and if so why?

Well i used to have awired one and i didnt see any change.

Totally agree. I have a wired one I bought before the 360 was even out (so I could use it for PC) and I have never seen anything different between it and a wireless one. The only real advantage a wired controller has is that you never have to charge it. Of course the wireless has the advantage of not having a cord which is nice.
no need to get out of mothers basement and set outside to make a purchase of batteries. convinent for mlg pro games like me.Justinge3are u trying to be funny? or are u serious? i really cannot tell

The biggest advantage is that you can strangle possible intruders with the cord in case of emergency.nethernovaThis and that with a corded controller, your controller never shuts off due to non-movement.
besides the fact that there is no need for batteries or battery packs, they do have their advantages
since wireless connections arent as fast as say a wired one, the reaction times for the controller are slightly increased as opposed to a wireless one
the advantage is so slight, however, that it is hardly noticeable, but, after playing FPS's online for a while with both a wired and wireless controller, i can tell u all from firsthand experience that there are better controller reaction times on a wired controller
The only reason I can think of is the battery problem, just get rechargable batteries and two sets of them. Have one set charging while you play with the other. Thats what I do anyway. Some people might think the weight is different cause your holding the batteries weight, but that shouldn't make a difference.
There is no way you could tell a difference. The time is much less than 0.5ms response time. Most people can't even tell with 5.0ms and even though I can tell a difference of lag with my 8ms response time TV, it still makes hardly any difference. I think wireless>wired when in a environment where people cross between you and the Xbox. Wired>wireless for everything else (infinite power life, can connect to PC, $10 cheaper ect)besides the fact that there is no need for batteries or battery packs, they do have their advantages

Look I can do the same thing: The only thing the wireless controller is better at is wasting batteries. The only thing a wired controller is better at is getting in the way.

Only advantage they hold is what others already listed, the weight. Wired controllers weigh less cuz they don't need a battery pack, while wireless weigh more. But the cord limits your ability to jump around and flail your arms when in moments of distress (which helps some gamers, for some strange reason). The other advantange is that wired controllers can be modded alot more, replacing the green LED with a stronger blue one would kill a wireless controllers batteries in a very short span of time, whilst the wired controller would act no different.

ok, this is not true, at all. If you knew about how controllers worked you'd know that the cord has nothing to do with response times, as its only there to power the controller. The controller itself is exactly the same between the two, and it connects the same way. The ONLY difference is what powers it, batteries vs a cable that uses the xbox's power
[QUOTE="gatsbythepig"]Look I can do the same thing: The only thing the wireless controller is better at is wasting batteries. Very good, I am not here to argue the merits of a wireless controller, because the TC never asked. I am here to point out why the wired controller is not better. The only thing a wired controller is better at is getting in the way.

stronger vibrations can play a vital part to hit detection in some games with wired also, i'm tending to believe, wireless has noticeable lag signal as my Bad company 2 stats seem to worsen with it whereas squadm8's say it's "it's a conjoined effect of wireless and my brain size distance.
I know this is the case. But I have seen a major trend in which the first post of a new user is usually from a thread from nearly 5 years ago. Can the only see old threads when they start posting? Lol.Because the threads were left open and not locked.
